Just now, Duran Is The Man said:

if Anthony could place first, i'd send Casas to Woo and bring Roman up.

I’m not normally a “send em a message” type but I’d send him further down than that.  I’m thinking Salem.

Convert Devers or Yoshida a 1B and send down Casas. Call up Mayer and send down Hamilton. Send down Rafaella and call up Anthony. Call up Grissom too.

I mean you have to make a statement right know before it’s too late.

There's not much we can do right now with our catching situation. We can continue to look under rocks.

Anthony will give us a lift. He can fill in at all 3 outfield positions. What I'm saying is he can play full time. We can sit Duran, Rafael or Abreu, one game out of time. Anthony is more valuable than Refsnyder. I'd be damned if someone is advocating for Refsnyder over Anthony.

The Rays scored 9 runs in the third inning tonight.  I was going to say the Rays got more runs in that inning than the Sox will get in this series.  Then it occurred to me that might also be true about the 4 runs the Rays scored in the second…

i think Cora needs to give Raffy, Story and Casas some rest days. they strike out every f***ing time they get up to bat because they're overworked, i'm sure.

Definitely Story needs some benching.  That he has 9 hits in his last 21 at bats just shows how badly he fits in with this team…

How low can this team get?

It's kind of amazing we are just 8-10 and 2 GB the division lead.

Recall that after 90 games last year , the Sox were about 8 games over .500 and in the WC slot.   Over the next 72, the went -6  and blew the playoffs.  This team is  like marriage, for better or worse.

Keep in mind that although the Rays scored 16, the net differential was only 15 , thanks to Campbell's solo shot.   So there's that.

so....do the Red Sox end up with more strike outs than the Rays score runs? 11 Ks so far to 15 runs. it might happen.

No, they fell short of the 16 , K'ing only 14 times  out of 27 outs, a bit over 50%.    Challenging Colorado for the games played adjusted MLB lead every night.  Fighting for what's right with Boston baseball.

I think this scoring slump and K rate has reached crisis proportions . After all the White Sox are coming back to Boston this weekend to deliver the coup de grace.

Congratulations to Tanner Houck for making the WORST start in Red Sox history last night. He started a game, and after just 1 pitch batting practice broke out. What a performance it was.🙈🤭🤮

At least the Boston Whiffers stayed consistent with their strikeout approach. Merloni said it best last night: "I can't even tell what the count is anymore -- 0-and-2 or 2-and-0."

That's because Red Sox batters don't adjust their stances and swings when down in the count. They still swing away like they're expecting a 2-and-0 fastball down the middle.

When NESN's sound came back on, OB had to keep telling us how Shane Baz was really good. Is it just a coincidence that Boston makes a lot of pitchers look really good? Even Booser looked better the other day... because he got to pitch vs. his old club.

We are the Sultans of Swish.

Sometimes the bats go cold, and sometimes pitchers can't even let the dog out to pee.   But what was most alarming last night was the  defensive collapse (meaning those presumed stalwarts:  Story, Bregman, Duran, joined also by Casas and Narvaez).

Rays 16, Red Sox 1: Tanner Houck got the start for the Bosox, lasted two and a third innings, gave up 10 hits, and allowed 12 runs. But hey, just 11 of them were earned! It was the worst outing from a big league starting pitcher in nearly two years. It was the worst start for any Red Sox starting pitcher in 63 years.

You're welcome everyone. I will not be making another Game Thread this season. My watch has ended.

If the posters approach your door with news about a long lost uncle tonight... I'd sit this one out.

Grissom has been playing 2B down there hasn't he? I'd like to see him get reps at 1st. I could definitely get behind Yoshi at 1st base if he can handle it.
