  1. Steven Wright: "My father used to say, if worse comes to worst, we're all screwed."
  2. Career BA of .344 - impressive. Career OBP of .482 - ridiculous.
  3. Ted Williams walked in 20.6% of his plate appearances. 🙂
  4. I get out for a walk a few times a week, but my body and mind seem to vastly prefer I do what I'm doing now, tapping on a keyboard. And when this gets tiring I have to go lie down for a while. 😄
  5. Anthony's "problem" seems pretty obvious to me - staying on the field.
  6. There's so much blind luck in baseball. For example we likely wouldn't have won in 2013 if Koji didn't have a spell of pitching like a god for 4 months or however long it was.
  7. And final aging starts at 70, I can say now speaking from experience.
  8. The Rays are probably my least favorite team to play, going back to their emergence as a real pain in the butt in 2008. You don't get many easy games against them. They are like Revenge of the Nerds, Major League Baseball version.
  9. Agreed, it looks like a clear win. And Raffy is reportedly exhibiting some of the same behaviors as in Boston, blowing off the media etc. You never know, he could turn around those 2026 numbers yet. It's a hard game and a long season.
  10. The 2019 team was almost identical to the 2018 team. It's not like DD brought in a bunch of pricy guys in 2019. They were already there.
  11. Dombrowski should not have been fired for 2019, no way. Not after his first 3 seasons resulted in 3 division titles and a WS title. The pitching collapsed in 2019, because s*** happens. I think it's much more plausible that Henry just wanted to go in a different direction, one with a lower payroll, and DD just didn't fit the profile.
  12. I think they changed the rule a few years ago specifically for situations like this where it's beyond the fifth inning, a team takes the lead in the top half but the game is stopped before the home team finishes the bottom half. Now it's treated as a suspended game and completed later. It's a better rule.
  13. Hey, I might be one of the 780 best accountants in the world. So might mvp78. So might Joe Brady. But guess what, there are no accounting leagues. Now I can state with a lot of confidence that I'm not one of the 780 most highly paid accountants in the world...
  14. This team is bad and boring and it feels like they're gonna stay that way this year. Something is sorely amiss, now that the coaching staff is cleaned out the hot lights fall squarely on Breslow.
  15. Joe Montainya was one of the hottest movie actors in the world for a year or two. Then he settled into one of those crime shows.
  16. My opinion of Breslow is in a nosedive.
  17. Francona lasted 8 seasons. Cora made it through 7.17 seasons.
  18. But he OPS'd over .900 playing DH for the Giants last year.
  19. Might be a small sample fluke, but in 200 PA's when he plays first base, Devers has a .571 OPS.
  20. It does seem that he was a bigger loss than anyone realized at the time.
  21. Which feeds a narrative that the Sox have become a soulless corporate entity with zero people skills.
  22. The old curmudgeons, Shaughnessy and Buckley, both say Breslow is the one who should have been axed. I guess we'll find out.
