  1. If every GM feels the same way as you do, why would they give us anything in return? Do you have better options for 2027 at the same price? Name him.
  2. Chapman has a mutual contract for 2027 at $13M. It becomes a guarantee if he pitches 40 innings (now at 17+ innings). Obviously he could turn it down but I'm not sure if anyone will give him a better deal. And I think he likes to pitch for Boston (not sure why). It would seem silly to me to trade Chapman unless we go on a full fledge rebuild mode. Why would we trade away an important piece that will bring us success? I doubt if we will get an every day player for Chapman. Then not having a closer on an otherwise good team will become a problem in 2027. By trading him, it signals to me that we are punting 2027 season along with this year. So we go from going all in for 2026 to rebuilding in 2027? That makes no sense. Crochet has a contract through 2031 but he has an option to leave after 2030 if he does not spend more than 120 days on IL. On the other hand, if he does spend more than 120 days on IL, he is contracted to play for Red Sox at $15M in 2032. At minimum he is with us for 4 years after 2026. To me, that's our window of opportunity. Can't keep punting the ball Mr. Breslow. Also, you may want to reevaluate what it means for a team to go 'all in'.
  3. And a closer on a good team has more value to that team than a closer on a mediocre team, such as the Red Sox. So the 'trading value' for Chapman should be off the charts. The Dodgers will pay more for Chapman than say the Giants.
  4. I've been consistent over the years about the prospects. It's better to know early than later. Great players will persevere.
  5. Much talk about having both Early and Tolle in Worcester but I'm glad it's turned out this way. Suarez is the real deal. He is a pitcher. Same goes for Sonny Gray. This team needs a Contreras clone to be the DH. We need an upgrade at 3B and a better shortstop. We're not that far away. It sucks to have the two contracts for another year.
  6. Starter ERA 12th in AL Bullpen ERA 3rd in AL Tampa Bay leads the ML in starter ERA 3.03 9-1 in one run games, 25-5 when they score 4 runs Not pitching Bello would help. Just play the numbers. Crossing fingers is not a strategy. Combined 2.72 ERA for Tolle (2.05), Suarez (2.44), Gray (2.93) and Early (3.21).
  7. Any chance we can stash away Campbell's salary off the books? What needs to happen?
  8. Well we let a good one get away in Bregman.
  9. That's surprising. Growing up in the 60's, defense up the middle, catcher, 2B, SS, CF. Power in LF, 1B, 3B and maybe RF.
  10. I always forget about his contract. Most definitely, he will have 5 years counting his option.
  11. Yes...I just put his name down because right now he has 6 years. I certainly hope we can do better. Defense is important but 3B is also a hitting position.
  12. Core Players Crochet 5 yrs starting 2027 Anthony 7 yrs Rafaela 5 yrs Abreu 3 yrs Narvaez 4 yrs Durbin 5 yrs Mayer 5 yrs Early/Tolle 5 yrs Everyone else can be traded, I hope Breslow learned something. Yes, we still need power.
  13. Maybe the organization should rethink about extending young players early. Christian Campbell, now Bello. I still do like Rafaela extension. Crochet was a no brainer. We got him with free agency pending. I like what Breslow is doing with drafting young starting pitchers. We should model after Tampa Bay with exception of occasional big contracts for proven talent. Schwarber comes to mind.
  14. They make combined $41M. They can charter a plane at the least.
  15. So What? Red Sox lineup has no Trevor Story, no Masataka Yoshida vs. tough righty Friday night.
