I wouldn't read too much into it. Slow starts are not new to him; his numbers in April have never been great, though these are below his career norms for the month.

One difference though is many of Duran’s grounders are hit pretty hard. Durbin makes a ton of weak contact.

This is precisely the type of game he should be used in. Well behind. If he’s decent, that’s fine, maybe a miracle occurs and a comeback happens. If he’s bad, not really a big deal, you lose by a bigger score.
