    Lose to get a better draft position? But the best draft position is only one unknown prospect better than the worst draft position. So you're saying that there's one teenager out there who will turn this around? I know it's a radical thought, but if you want to get better, keep your best players.

    Which of the many explnations (a number of which I've read) do you mean? Im sure those who speak of it are sure it works and those hitters who believe they aare practicing it may get some benefit. But whatever they are doing, they are NOT doing what they say they are doing.

    I believe that's Rice speaking. But whatever he means by "hit the top of the ball" it does not mean "hit the top of the ball." I wish I knew what hitting coaches mean by that, or how hitters interpret it. But 'hitting the top of the ball' in a literal (i.e., acc. to physics) will result in nothing but a ground ball.

    There is no such thing as a natural 'closer' any more than there's such a thing as a 'natural position'. Rivera, Chapman, Koji ... these were great pitchers, who honed their skills for one-inning work.

Maybe say he refused to change positions. Maybe do a Francona and say he has alcohol and marital problems. Don't worry. The sycophantic Breslow fans will support whatever you do.

    What are they saying the recovery on tht is? I believe 'sports hernias' are more serious than the garden-variey hernia tht likely many of us had. But the reg. hernia? I felt I was completely healed in a month. (and I'm basically 100 years old).

    Not worth the effort to figure out, since the challenge system will be gone soon anyway (I'm surprised I don't mind it aas much as I thought), and we'll have a rational system of ABS.

    Agree with Moon. None. The only problem I've ever had is not sleeping as well without it. I go from edible/smoke every day for months, then (for whatever reason) a couple of weeks not smoking at all. Nothing. (Not even the kind of pseudo-withdrawal that is just you wanting to get high!) Quite different from all other drugs (and habits!) I've quit.
