Houck and Crawford are question marks because they've been out of action so long. Plus they weren't pitching that well when we last saw them. They are just hopeful depth.

Disagree, Beckett's postseason resume will always be outstanding. 7-2, 3.07 ERA, .94 WHIP, instrumental in 2 rings. How many pitchers have better than that? Gibson, Schilling, who else. I'm guessing Beckett is still in the top 5.

The owners are proposing to cut back to 154 games, increase the LDS to 7 games and fix up the playoff system. These changes actually seem fine.

A cap of 240 million or whatever they're proposing is going to be a hard sell. Because we already know there are teams that can spend a pile more than that and still pay their bills.

But I think it's the roids keeping him out of the HOF. I know about the Mindy McCready story, not sure if that would impact voters or not, but I can't rule it out.

On the other hand Ellsbury replaced him and helped us win in 2007 and 2013. To me there was no harm done to anyone. But the real point for me is that anybody who helped us win a ring, especially the 2004 ring, I find it hard to say anything bad about. All those years we had our hearts broken, I thought if we ever did win one, that team would all be treated as heroes forever. In 2005 when Foulke was really struggling, Bob Ryan wrote something nasty about him, and I e-mailed him to protest. Ryan was pretty cool, I e-mailed him maybe 4 times about various things and he answered every one of them.
