  1. Theo is not going to take a downgrade in position to GM or PBO level responsibilities.
  2. It’s on Breslow and Bailey. They are the common denominators through Weissert’s time in Boston. As someone said, Cora kept using him in those situations too. None of which changes my point that is send him back out for another inning or 2. Again, why use 2 or 3 more pitchers to cover the last 3 innings, especially with a Bello game tomorrow in Cleveland.
  3. Every time I see a grand slam, I’m reminded that Jim Palmer pitched 19 years in the big leagues and never allowed one. He did allow one in the minors to some Reds prospect named Bench.
  4. I send Weissert back out again. Why waste 2-3 more pitchers today.
  5. Weissert’s not that good, but he never seems to come into a clean inning. OTOH, 0-2 and then never threw another competitive pitch to little Yaz. Weissert can stay in from here on out. I sometimes wonder if he’s a Yankee plant.
  6. Anyone know what happened on the foul tip that wasn’t reviews? Only thing I can think of is they didn’t ask quickly enough.
  7. I have no problem with this. A lefty with a motion and a slider like Sale’s is the kind of southpaw Mayer should sit for.
  8. No idea what you’re looking at but: Devers has 1 homer and 5 RBIs this week (so Kiner-Falefa for that matter). May carried a no-hitter into the 8th today; he lost the no-no in the 8th Harrison’s high for strikeouts in a game this season is 12, In late April. He also had an 11 K game on May 20. All other games were in single digits. Grissom is the only real item. Devers and Harrison info is per the Game Logs on Baseball Reference.
  9. It’s good or excellent, My teenaged mind of 50+ years ago kind of translated it as large and the main phrase I remember from the book was horrorshow groodies, which dealt with the torso of a grown woman (like I said, I was a teenager). I admit I looked up the Russian word for gap, so my phase above was meant as large holes in the offense. Here’s a link to Clockwork terminology. https://www.sparknotes.com/lit/clockworkorange/terms/
  10. To keep this on baseball, the Red Sox offense has some horrorshow probels in it. (My apologies if I bastardized the NadSat language there).
  11. Waaaay too early to do either. 1) Folks here couldn't wait to get rid of Hamilton last year. He's had a slightly better start this year, but let's not pretend he's done a whole lot better than he did last year here. He's pretty much at his career numbers and those are nothing to be excited about. 2) Harrison has had a good 9 games covering 45 innings. Maybe its a hot streak or maybe he's matured. There is nothing from his years in SF that screams keeps me and he only pitched in 3 games for the Sox last year. Let's see what happen going forward. He has potential, that's it. 3) Drohan has all of 25 innings pitched. That means nothing other than maybe he could be a decent pitcher.
  12. Game’s at Fenway; how do they have a better shot?
  13. “Clutch” is having the ability to relax and do what you do normally. Ortiz probably had about the same average in big situations as he did in the 5th inning of a game in May. Other guys tense up and can’t do that. Clutch may not exist but anti-clutch certainly does. The current Sox have a lot of these guys. it also helps to have faith in your teammates; if I don’t don’t do it, the next guy will vs. I have to do it because the next guy won’t.
  14. He wasn’t the problem today. Whitlock needed to get one out and the Sox are out of that inning. He failed miserably.
  15. Problem is there if they had held Wong, there is absolutely no reason to expect he would have scored with any of the next 2-3 batters.
  16. I’d have no issue trading Whitlock. He’s been decent this year, but not as solid as in years past. Could be a free agent after this season as well (Sox have 2 team options).
  17. Weird that they have an off day on a holiday tomorrow.
  18. They hit him well when they faced him on Minnesota as well; in fact, it’s his only loss. Twins, for whatever reason, have our number this year.
  19. Game’s already started; it would be suspended if it were stopped. With this being the final game between these two teams, they will play 5 unless there’s a monsoon.
  20. Well at least my Irish made the NCAA Lacrosse finals again, do the afternoon wasn’t a total loss.
