  1. Yeah, probably just Monegro and Bastardo. It wouldn't be the end of the world though.
  2. Why feel bad about booing? His job is to catch the ball. If one of us fails to do our job correctly, we're open for criticism. There's a difference between booing and intentionally going after Duran in public because of his struggles. If we all went to a game together, I'm sure we'd all cheer for everyone on the team (excluding one or two posters of course). The only game I've ever been to where fans were really going after an opposing player was the day Brett Myers pitched after beating up his wife. A little different than yelling at Duran TBH! https://www.nbcsportsphiladelphia.com/news/brett-myers-arrested-for-hitting-his-wife/277918/
  3. I guess fans are just the commodity that owe Jarren Duran a living no matter if he can get a hit or not? Playing well is what he can do to entertain us. I truly don't care too much about the rest of it. However, when he keeps bringing everything upon himself (f slurs, going after fans, going after podcasters, his social media drama) he has shown no growth. He's 30. A large part of the reason that he hasn't been traded is that he's a toxic asset. Other teams don't want him because of what he brings to the table. I wish it wasn't the case. He's my son's favorite player. It's less about "mental health" and more about his behavior on the field. At this point, you can't write that stuff off anymore. Depression isn't a hall pass to get away with whatever you want.
  4. Since July 1, they are 7th in MLB in HR.
  5. Red Sox have been great playing away. Having a top 3 of Suarez/Gray/Tolle gives them as good a shot as any to go into the Bronx and win. They at least have a better shot than last year.
  6. Back then, the award only went to a player if they won the pennant or came in 2nd. Willie got hosed by the voters in a few years even if you go by traditional stats.
  7. Hoerner's defense is plus plus. Sogard's is average to above average. For now, I'd take Hoerner on his current contract at 29. Once it bumps up to 23M next season at age 30? Much closer call especially if Hoerner's offense starts to fade.
  8. I mean, using WAR by itself isn't great to begin with. It's fun for what it is, but shouldn't be the be all end all. Anthrax - Be All, End All
  9. List of MiLB FA's this offseason: November 2026 Angel Bastardo Osvaldo Berrios John Brebbia Vinny Capra Allan Castro Tyler Davis Jason Delay Patrick Halligan Hobie Harris Kyle Keller Seth Martinez Morgan McSweeney Sam McWilliams Yordanny Monegro Juan Montero Tomas Nido Aaron Nixon Erik Rivera Ronald Rosario Michael Sansone Reidis Sena Devin Sweet Jeremy Wu-Yelland
  10. Was hoping for more out of Castro this season, but nice of him to have a big game in September. He's an MiLB FA this offseason, so there's a chance he goes elsewhere.
  11. If they beat the Yankees (50% chance), I think they have like a 25% chance from there to get to the WS. I think it really depends on what team they are facing in the WS. Dodgers would be a tough matchup. I'd like their chances against the other NL teams though.
  12. If you go on bref, there is a lack of detailed stats prior to 1990 or so (I was looking up 3-0 counts, k looking, etc last week). For defensive stuff, it's even later. Comparing historic WAR calculations with what a current player does seems kinda ridiculous TBH.
  13. It's not an "act" but really just his demeanor. His whole persona wears on people. It's why vets have told him to not get so down on himself. How about he goes and sees somebody to deal with his stuff? How about he shows measurable change rather than year after year fighting with fans? His job is to perform for our entertainment. He will get cheered or booed. That's the job. He doesn't like that. Too bad. It's his 4th fulltime season in MLB. He needs to figure it out. 🤷‍♂️
  14. The problem is that there isn't reliable pitch data prior to 1990. There could be more? We just don't know. I also think calling it an "immaculate inning" is something that came about during my adulthood.
  15. He should still be here.
