i am not complying about Conteras but a .253 avg with about a 33% K rate doesn't qualify as GREAT in my books., But he is WAY DOWN the list of issues this team has. Myself I'd give him a B grade.
we NEED to be sellers and the QUICKER THE BETTER. Contreras, Chapman, Gray, and Duran should able to return some young cost controlled talent THAT JOHN HENRY craves.
i can't begin to state how disappointed I am in Bello. I had been 100% against trading him in the past but now I am ok wust giving him away for nothing but salary relief.
Once again the Sox are horrible. They are actually so bad I truly could care less and as most of you can tell that by the fact I have been absent on here for most of the last month. I came into the year with great hopes but they quickly were dashed. Once again the team is floundering at the bottom of the AL East standings. I could go on and on about where this is heading but like John Henry [who SHOULD BUT DOESN'T care} I could care less. i don't even bother to check the results day by day. This is where the Sox are at for me. Sad !!
i could care less whether he starts or not. Obviously he was not expected to be an everyday player but he WAS paid to be so. It is signings like this that drive the payroll up so people like you can argue that the Sox are not cheap. Paying IKF at the minimum was an OVERPAY.
Not many fans do. I hear someone flew a "fire Breslow and sell the team" banner above Fenway. I was totally against the IKF signing the minute it happened.
i really wasn't trying to poke the bear just pointing out another failed reclamation acquisition that failed miserably. I have lost count on how many of these we have tried. But hey we're not cheap.
There is much uncertainty and falsehood about where the Sox rank in payroll but all I will say is 1} the majority of our recent spending {since DD} have been for the most part wasted money mostly on broken down P and bad contracts like the most recent Suarez and Gray additions. I would have NEVER signed Suarez !
. How much money did we waste on all the rehabbing P of which 90% never made a contribution in Boston ?? Didn't you say that Sandavol would be in this rotation?? Then we replace a guy like Bregman with a Durbin. I don't care that Bregman has had a bad start but you know given his track record that he will come around. He was also a positive influence in the clubhouse. Not saying I would have paid the contract he got but Durbin was a weak replacement AT BEST.
Spending stupid money like we have done makes no sense at all but I personally don't believe we are 5th in payroll. I came into this year optimistic but that is long gone now. This team is horrid and not likely to get much better. The only decent thing Breslow has done is improve the young P.
i only mentioned Alonso because we needed a RH bat. I didn't really care that we didn't get him. We really didn't get any of the guys we were supposedly in on unless you count Conteras. The tragedy is how much we signed Suarez for and to a smaller extent Gray but hey we can't called JH cheap.
i know you are going to disagree but Conteras was not the guy to sign as the power bat everyone thought we needed. I wouldn't have paid Bregman what he got either but the guys to go after were Schwarber or Alonso. At the end of the day with all the other issues the Sox have the aforementioned is likely irrelevant. Durbin has been an unmitigated DISASTER but he fit JH's budget.
I think I'd seriously look at a managerial change and hopefully that would be Varitek. Cora may be popular in the clubhouse but the results on the field are clearly not there and he's had plenty of rope. Other than that this looks like a 75-78 win season. COMPLETE DISASTER !!
