    ESPN's Jeff Passan reported on Threads that many in MLB are bracing for the possibility that the lockout could cancel the entire 2027 campaign, stating, "There are owners that believe there won't be a single game next season." He's been saying this a lot. He said the number is growing in a TV interview the other day. He has also said that if there's no movement by mid Feb he's going to be concerned about the season. Considering this has been building since the last one in a way others haven't, I'm concerned now.

    Pure conjecture on all our parts tbf. I'm just going off the reporting of all the big journos like Passan and Rosenthal - they're all expecting a long lock out. As well as the visceral reactions so far from both sides on the cap prospect. It's going to be a long winter. Luckily we'll have a WS ring to keep us warm.

    Yeah same,I don't love it either. I'm only talking in comparison to Mona who scares the s*** out of me. Arias performing again today. He's banging on that door.

    Yeah, I'm not saying it's nailed on. Just that there is any chance and if finds it, I'd like his power threat and defence over Mona. I'm not enthusiastically pushing for it by any means.

    Casas has earned his place over absolutely nobody. Nobody.

    I feel like IFK is done. I'd be surprised if there is room for him if a) this run keeps going, and b) we get all our guys back to fitness. So I'm not worried about that so much. The only SS we have who's been good at D is Cheng and he's down to stay now I imagine. Mona is not better than Story on D. If Mona hits and Story doesn't, there's no contest, it stays Mona. If Story gets in a groove there's also no contest. Time will tell us which happens. Neither is sure. I'm not sure they're going to move Story do 2nd but it could happen.

    There's a chance it is not fluke hitting by Mona (and others). His first two seasons his OP+ was .75. We'll find out where it is, but I'm pretty confident it's not what we're seeing now on what is a miraculous run by all involved.

    I get that. He's hardly a shoe in for me either. But I think he's got more to offer than people are giving him credit for, if he clicks. No guarantee of course, but I'm looking forward to seeing what he has in his rehab. His power is legit and if he's on he'd be weapon in that line up.

    You'd have thought so, but depends where we are with our 40 man.

    Nothing beats competing. Training all day in complexes and some pick up games gets you only so far. If we're flying without him, I'd rather he stay down there on the chance we lose half a season as I expect.

    TBF, he hasn't lived up to the No2 we hoped. He's been a No1.

    This is fair, also. Whoever gets moved down once we're all healthy is going to have a rightful beef with the decision, but also, some of them are running a hot streak that is far above their level. If that tails off like you'd imagine it has to, by the end of the month, it'll be less painful and make all the sense in the world to bring your big guys back in. Especially with expanded rosters due.

    He's not going to be ready until the expanded rosters in September, so we don't have to worry about earning just the 26th spot. He's a veteran and was a valuable player last year. We'll see if this year was the injury or just the fall off, but I can't help feel people are s***ing on him too much right now. Let's see how the rehab goes. I like Mona but he isn't going to keep this hitting up.

    There are two reasons - let's not rush him and drop him into the pressure of a play off race (though he's making himself hard to ignore) but most importantly, he isn't on the 40 man. When the lockout comes those not on the 40 man can continue to train and play baseball. We want Arias playing baseball next year, not sitting at home.

    100%. There's always a 2nd big contract to get if you play well. Get that life-changing contract locked in, I imagine Campbell is ecstatic he got his signed.

    There are, and baseball is thriving, nonetheless. There's also the fact that people will be starved of baseball and desperate to have it back if there is a long stoppage, and there's also no lack of things you want to not think about other than just baseball for 3 hours going on in the world right now. I think you're greatly underestimating the level of disdain each party has for the other over the cap proposal. Maybe I've greatly overestimating it. We'll see. I hope you're right.

    '94 was a different world. With everyone online now and access that brings for promotion and prodganda, I'm fairly confident it wouldn't hit that hard. I hope you're right. I fear, I am.

    I can't even begin to imagine how much he regrets not listening the Sox's extension offer.

    6/150 they proposed on Mass Live. That would be my top number. He's got too chequered an injury past to offer him 6/180.
