Yeah, good moves all round. Stability going forwards.

Will be interesting to see what Bres does next year.

Stability is a good thing. He’s got a good connection with the boys and as a former player and someone who grew up in the game, there doesn’t seem like there’s any situation he doesn’t have handled. I like the deal.

All for a two month once in a lifetime magic carpet ride in a down, down year for MLB. To me it doesn’t matter either way, but I would have waited until after the postseason, but they didn’t, so meh. Tito, Farrell, and Cora all won a WS in their first year, so if Tracy doesn’t is it a failure?🤔

But, they didn't interview anyone else. HE WAS THEIR #1 PICK!

That's what matters most, right?

I like the point made that he has experience seeing some of these young guys grow in Worchester and how they trust him. That is huge.

Dick Tracy was certainly a failure in these two games against the Yankees. What Geek, and Nerd told him his starting pitcher couldn’t last even 5 innings, and that Miller Time was his best option to bring in to a 1-0 game both nights, or to bring in NOchet who hadn’t pitched anywhere since April. He certainly didn’t look like an interim he looked like a little League manager, and as Mazz would say 1 dick move after another. Tracy was roasted, and toasted on the airwaves after the first Yankees game, and it will be even worse today. Well deserved, and warranted.🙈🤭🤮

Please explain to me as if I haven’t been watching baseball since the 70s and played throughout early 20s. Also I’d like to think I have logic and reason and try not to be overly emotional. So here it is…
Unless someone is injured then I don’t understand why in Gods name would you, after relying on them all year to get where you are, turn away from your starting pitching (the strongest and most reliable part of your team). Then hand the game over to a bunch of Fn middle relievers to win against the NYY? They are already better than you offensively and with their pitching. Du,mb. Just dumb.

You pull 6’6 LH power arm Tolle after 4.2ip, 5 hits 83 pitches and one run for another 6’6 LH power arm who has been struggling his last few games? Why? WTF is wrong with him? In what universe and in what analytics notebook suggests this was a better move? , unless Tolle was gassed or hurt, do you NOT pull him. You leave him in for 100-110 pitches if he can!
now your 18 win starter? gray… Same thing, but he only threw 70 pitches. Both games the pen lost the game.
you got where you got because of your starting pitching. Your bullpen hasnt been great lately, but you’ve decided to use 6 middle relievers a night? And think this is the best plan?
in what universe beside this team, is this a good decision?
your starting pitching wins championships, not your bullpen. What a clown show.

Well said, and it definitely sounds like geeks, and nerds were making the pitching decisions. Either that, or a little LEAGUE manager.

Oh no! He’s going to get roasted by the horribly informed Boston radio media!  Sorry, but if you want to know nothing about sports, local talk radio always seems to be the place to turn…

Tracy was just following Breslow's gameplan. It was actually a gameplan that many have used in the playoffs prior to this year. I think the issue is that the bullpen just didn't have the horses by the time the postseason came around. Maybe it works better if Guerrero was healthy? I think you'll see Kevin Cash and David Roberts manage very similarly.

Tolle had traffic all game long. The batters that were coming up had good AB's against him. Not sure he would have fared much better than Miller TBH.

People complaining about the Sox being run by geeks? Was Dan Duquette just hired again?

Sonny Gray comes out and says he wished he could’ve been trusted more in that situation which tells me that probably him and Tolle are pissed offense some level for being prematurely pulled early. And both of them had every damn right to be pissed off…
The rookie manager really s*** the bed. Major FAIL

You gotta trust the guys that got you here to get out of those situations. Tracy panicked and relied on unreliable middle relievers tolle was your best option to get out of it at that point. All he needed was one more out and he was at 83 pitches. He should’ve finished the ip and came out for the next.
Gray was pissed off. He wasn’t trusted in that situation. I bet you Payton was too to some point,,

True!

Sox had the #1 pen ERA in MLB in the regular season. Gotta trust that they can get you through it. They crapped out in the postseason.

Miller started crapping out before that, and trying NOchet was a long, long crapshoot at best.🤮

A lot of people on here thought he was coming in as a shutdown reliever.

"Why are they bringing Miller in? They should bring in Crochet instead!"

Miller wasn't great, but he was a better option than Crochet like I said going into the series.

Game plan? A geek, and nerds were making game plan instead of going by the feel of the game. In an elimination game something told you that Miller was your best option? OMG!🙈🤭🤮

Welcome to 2026! Breslow is going to be here for a while. Hope you enjoy the ride.

The Sox have been going with analytics for 30 years now and radio callers like you have complained the whole time about it. 🤷‍♂️

Bottom line was NEITHER was the best option when they were brought in. This was an elimination game with the season on the line. Breaking news, but A lot of people on here aren’t as smart as they think they are, and that includes me, but just like the idiot Merloni who said what he saw what  NOchet did last year is still living in last year. He hadn’t pitched since April, and to even ponder that he could come in, and be as good as last year has a good case of cerebralfecalitis.

Everybody liked Tracy for a long time.  Then he gets a 3 year extension.  Then he screws up.  For some reason it feels like a very Red Sox sequence of events.

Breslow panicked on his DL trade and Tracy panicked in his first PO as manager.

Complain all you want about usage of the Red Sox pitching -- they used 10 pitchers and 8 gave up runs (all but Chapman and Weissert)...

... but this sums up the diff between NY and Boston: the Yanks' legitimate offense was so deep they could overcome the loss of their Hall of Famer, and not even start another 30-home run slugger -- Garcia, the NL slugging leader acquired in trade for 4 prospects.

The Red Sox' ghastly batting order, in contrast, slotted two players cut by non-contenders in key spots -- two years in a row:

Romy clean-up in '25, Jones leadoff in '26. In Beancounter Town, it's cheaper to pay an office full of Asst. VPs to scour the waiver wires than it is for established bats.
