  1. Is that with or without a liver transplant? (See above post)
  2. Cole lost last night to the Astros so Sox will miss him this series, Fried is coming off the injuried list and will be on a pitch count, and Saturday is a double header. Bullpens will play a big role in this series and the Sox should have Whitlock back, a rested bullpen, and Bello pitching in one of the games on Saturday.
  3. Even if that is the case, wouldn't having Gasper as pitch hitter (from the left side) coming off the bench be a big positive. Plus, he has played first and caught. A third catcher with Rutschman's health in question. It would be a mistake if he is the one sent down.
  4. You never know what you are going to get from Sandoval. To make matters worse the Yanks rearranged their rotation to throw Schlitter in Game 1. Yanks have a hard time scoring runs, particularly against lefties, so Sandoval just needs to keep Sox in the game and Sox" O "needs to run up the pitch count to get into the Yanks bullpen.
  5. That is why I avoid typing his name in my posts in hopes that I save his liver. I think his time in Boston may be coming to an end. Basically, he has missed the last two years and who knows how much baseball will be played with the lockout looming! The Sox could have used his power in April, May, and June!
  6. Good problem to have! Moore players that can help then roster spots. Remember rosters expand to 28 in September. Another thing to keep in mind is who has options left.
  7. As of today the Sox would pitch Gray, Suarez, and Tolle would be your starters and Bennett and Crochet (If he is back) would be used out of the pen. I saw something today that looks like a potential plan if Crochet makes it back. Would be ideal opener for Bello and an option for a playoff game.
  8. Yoshida sounds like he might be done for the season. And Slaton and Whitlock are missed and probably cost the Sox the final game of the D-Backs series.
  9. A healthy Anthony and 2025 Story can help this team. It will make easier to give some of the Sox days off to recharge their batteries for the stretch run. 1B-3B-CF-RF have played a lot over the last couple months and all of them seem to look better hitting after a day off.
  10. Agree! This is a game which the injuries in the bullpen (Whitlock and Slaten) cost us. I am so done with Weissert.
  11. During the winning streak it happened enough that the Sox went on a "Summer Saving" streak!
  12. Today, against the Jays he pitched to contact. Nice to see him have different approaches based on the lineup he is facing.
  13. Yes, the Sox could have used another starter to eat some of the innings down the stretch.
  14. Needs to shut it down! The last injury sounds like he was doing too much too fast. With him being hurt so much the last two years he was trying to get back yesterday.
  15. He came up big today as the Sox really need a "W". Keeping the pitch count down and going 8 innings.
  16. Pitching, defense, timely hitting, and small ball when needed. The Sox have finally bought in.
  17. Uberstine was no longer an option as a starter after hurting his arm. The Sox just promoted a couple of pitchers from AA and Uberstine was no longer needed. Not sure what purpose White serves so I have to believe this is probably a 40-man roster issue.
  18. Yes, he made a very good bullpen even better picking up Miller. An Arias has passed Mayer as the Sox SS of the future.
  19. Agree. Miller is another power arm for the pen to help shorten the game. High 90s type of arm from the left side. I rooted hard for Marcelo because it is always great when the Sox can draft and turn prospects into productive major leaguers, but four years in a row, injuries have caused him to miss a lot of games. He can't improve if he can't stay on the field. The front office sees Arias as the future SS and Mayer became expandable for something that can help the Sox in 2026.
  20. Losing Eyanson is the one that hurts! It clicked right away and he is dominating in AA. The others I am not as concerned about losing. Narvarz is lost at the plate and provides no offense. Witherspoon is struggling at High A and his stuff is not missing bats. Azocar is a young OF that is going to be blocked in Boston. LF - Anthony with long term contract, CF - Ceddanne with long term contract. RF - Abreau with two gold gloves and a power source. Then there is Gonzales ranking ahead of him with a power bat that profiles well in Fenway. If healthy Rutchman fills two needs: solid D behind the plate that knows the AL East hitters very well and a much-needed power bat to extend the lineup. I think after the Dodgers series Breslow is pushing all of the chips in because the AL is so weak that there is a path for the Sox to go far in October.
  21. Then the Red Sox become the Royals and Witt once again is in the same situation. Baseball is a team sport and one player cannot win the WS by himself.
  22. That is why I am holding my breath as the deadline approaches. The Sox have needs that is for sure, but is Arias the next Bagwell? Does anyone know how many future H-O-F the Sox have traded at the deadline besides Bagwell?
  23. Agree, not hitting for that long will be a problem for Mead and the Sox.
  24. This is a game the Sox would not have won early in the season. Hitting two homeruns and manufacturing a go ahead run in the eighth. Scoring the winning run on a double play I was glad to see. Early in the year Sox leave runners on the corners and the final two guys would have struck out. Good to see Chappy with a clean ninth and leaving Ohtani on the on-deck circle.
