Alex Speier's quote from Cora is telling : bad pitching,..defense,....hitting,....baserunning,....lack of atmosphere (????) . Follow up question: "AC, who is the manager of this team that should getting results in all those categories ? "

If you want atmosphere just walk the concourse from 1B area to 3B and you'll smell plenty of atmosphere.

Meh. By the time anyone gets to MLB, most of the skills are there but need additional refinement. MLB has the longest apprenticeship of any professional sport, given that they can turn professional at age 18. If you make it to the Majors by age 23, you are ahead of your year group.

And this. John Henry has never shown any reluctance to fire a manager. After the great 2018 season and with pretty much the same team in 2019, the Sox didn't even make the playoffs. If your accusation has any validity, that was all Cora's fault. To make matters worse, MLB banned Cora from managing or anything for a year. After that year was up, JH hired Cora back for 2021, 2022, 2023, and now 2024.

Thank you Mama Cora

You're darn right. That song in West Side Story gets it right when the gals say it's great in America and the guys say it's great in Puerto Rico. Alex is as American as apple pie, and he's made us all all proud. I'd rather have had him than that goofy guy with the weird hair although I did like Sully.

Rumors around Boston are that Cora wants out because FO lied to him about the players he would have. Gee whiz Cora finally realized that Red Sox ownership tells Porkies as the Brits wouldd say. Imagine that!

After a brief encouraging start the Sox are slipping into the reality of what was expected given John Henry”s penny pinching ways. Fear not though RSN because by 2025 or more likely 2026 this ship will be on the right course once the low cost prospects arrive.

Tough to compete with Reyes, Hamilton and Dalbec in the infield.

One at a time maybe but not all 3 at once. Ugh.

We are now just days away from the Savior's arrival: Grissom.

Any citation on the rumors because I would tend to think it may be true ?

You forgot Valdez on the bench ready to fill in as a defensive replacement in late innings

So is Christmas, 255+- days away. The team does expect him to use all 20 allowed rehab days ( started yesterday ?), so maybe by May 7 ?? Good luck Vaughn. The Nation awaits.

@JeffPassan

News: The Boston Red Sox and manager Alex Cora have engaged in recent talks on a contract extension, and there is momentum toward a deal, sources tell me and @Buster_ESPN. After months of silence regarding Cora's lame-duck status, a multiyear contract is a real possibility.

@Buster_ESPN

The deal that the Red Sox and Alex Cora have been discussing, first reported by Jeff Passan, is in th,e range of three years, $21.75m. It would be the second-highest salary for a manager, behind Craig Counsell's 5-year, $40m dea.

Alex Cora and the Red Sox are in agreement at $7M-plus per year over 3 years. Just finalizing the deal now.

Overall, Cora has done a good job. I don't know why everyone was so sure he was leaving. When he has a good team , he knows how to win. Hard to win with the lack of talented players we have seen the last couple of years.

Just another in a long list of thoughts, opinions, suggestions, or predictions that end up being wrong.

They are never wrong. It's just that things change.

You were wrong just a couple of days ago when you predicted we'd be beating up on the Rockies LOL

Predicting baseball is impossible. But it'd be boring to never do it.

I guess some were wrong about him leaving.

I don't expect anyone to own up.

I'm glad he'll be back.

Was it a prediction, a suggestion, or an opinion? That always seems like a big question on here like it really matters.

It's a good day, even though we're getting hammered.

Hopefully some good player news to follow!

yeah, trade all the s***** motherf***ers on this team that aren't producing - Casas, Story, Yoshida, hell...everybody but Devers, Houk, Crawford and Duran. And maybe O'Neill.

In Epstein you pink hats should trust!

Cora doesn’t stay unless Epstein is more involved

Like I said, wonder boy will be heavily involved in baseball ops next season

Soto on the radar, book it!

Those are the facts and the facts are undisputed

Coming from the guy who holds people to them…

Just watched Cora confirm he's staying. I was wrong that the Sox would pay him, though it wasn't quite Counsell money. But signing Cora always made sense for owners cutting corners (the ones they hung around 20 years ago), because AC has shown he's as good as anyone getting the most out of a bare-bones roster.

There should also be increased excitement about the trade deadline, assuming Cora was given some assurances that the front office would provide the reinforcements that are glaringly needed asap. Locking up a manager vocal about franchise support can also imply better offseasons ahead...

Of course, the Sox also told Jansen they were going for it in '23 when they convinced him to sign.

Almost as importantly, if they told him they were going to try, does he believe them?

Considering the bag he got - Cora got some solid insurance from the Red Sox.
