  1. Any word on the severity of Mead’s injury.
  2. First game —- That has to be a record for going down with an injury.
  3. I like Seigler too. He puts the ball in play and makes things happen. His glove is reliable too.
  4. It seems that Mead sucks at 3B, so maybe 2B will suit him better. Leave Durbin at 3B. Do we have enough depth at SP with Early gone? It sounds like Crochet will not be giving us anything this season. I guess they think Sandoval can hold down a rotation spot.
  5. I like all three lefties — Early, Tolle and Bennett. All are very impressive. Early reminds me of John Tudor. I regretted trading him and Bobby Ojeda too. I have a feeling that we will regret trading Early. I don’t know much about Mead. He is young with a good pedigree. Hopefully, it will work out.
  6. Per MLB: The Red Sox and Nationals finalized a trade on Saturday night, just over a week before the Aug. 3 Trade Deadline. Boston sent left-handed starter Connelly Early to the Nationals for infielder Curtis Mead. Early, who debuted last year but is still a rookie, has posted a 3.44 ERA and 9.1 strikeouts per nine innings across 17 starts this year. TRADE DETAILS Red Sox to receive: INF Curtis Mead Nationals to receive: LHP Connelly Early Early has been on the injured list with left elbow inflammation since July 1, although he is expected to return in August. The lefty threw one inning in the bullpen on Friday, and his next step before a rehab assignment was expected to be a two-inning 'pen session. This is the third trade involving Mead, who was once dealt straight up to the Rays for current Phillies ace Cristopher Sánchez. The 25-year-old native of Adelaide, Australia, has played third base, first and second this season, slashing .254/.352/.500 in 87 games. Per Baseball Savant, Mead's xwOBA of .359 entering play on Saturday ranked in the 85th percentile of all big league hitters.
  7. I like Early. I think he has a good future. Where will Mead fit? Isn’t he primarily a third baseman?
  8. Red Sox trading LHP Early to Nats for INF Mead (sources) Per MLB
  9. When Mayer or Story return, I don’t think they should take the starting jobs from Cheng or Seigler. They play good situational baseball, put the ball in play, play good D and make things happen. I like what they bring to the team.
  10. Is Bello’s problem mechanical or between his ears?
  11. In Fort Myers, S5Dewey told me that he was concerned about Bello and wasn’t counting on him for much. I was surprised, because I thought he had turned a corner in ‘25.
  12. What is going on with Breslow sending Anthony away from the team for his rehab? Is it really his pinky finger as some are saying. I thought it was his ring finger. I remember Ronnie Lott biting off his injured pinky to return to play. Does Anthony need this digit to play?
  13. Weisert in the 3rd inning. Is he bringing in a white flag from the bullpen?
  14. Devers with 2 HRs today. We don’t need that.🙄
  15. The FO did what they always do— demonize a player on the way out the door. They have done this time and again.
