True, and if Story moves to 3B....

We also have the Mayer squeeze as a possibility next year or 2026.

And if Story moves to 2B, which is most likely than going to 3B since Raffy is still entrenched there as is Casa at 1B.🤫

If Story is healthy, Grissom being a UTIL guy isn't the end of the world.

I have more faith in Sale.

Not sure Story's arm can really handle 3B either.

I just don't have faith in Sale staying healthy...

I meant I have more faith in Sale staying healthy than Story. He's snakebitten.

In a healthy Sale, for sure.

I don't think many of us had faith in his health for 2024 and or 2025. The 2025 option was in serious doubt, before this season began.

Plus, it's not like 2B has been a great position for us. Not only were we ranked 30th in fWAR at 2B from 2022-023, we were at -2.0.

Not sure, either.

Maybe, Mayer at 3B, Story at SS and Grissom at 2B. I'll leave to guess where Devers and Casas play.

Don't tell me you don't know the rest of the story.

As you can see with all the players who have played 1B this year Raffy isn’t even the 3rd emergency 1B.

Story was great at 2b, just put him there again and keep the franchise SS where he's projected to be.

Or Casas?

Moon probably traded Casas and Raffy for some prospects with upside while eating 80% of Raffy's salary. Good deal for the Sox though!

Most of the moves that Moon suggest, which never happen would also cause other moves to be made also. It’s not just 1 move that would have to be made.

Not a good deal, but a money saver.

The most logical lineup would be Devers at third, Mayer at short, Story at second and Casas at first. Look for a right-hand power bat for D.H.

On paper yes, but you really can’t count on Story. Also you still got the NOshida contract to deal with.

I'm fine with that plan. We have some flex, if someone does not come through (Mayer) or gets hurt (Story or ____.)

The OF looks solid and deep, too, especially if Anthony comes through.

Our catchers look fine, and we have Teel looking like a good future catcher.

Top RH bats on next years free agent market.

Alex Bergman.

Jose Altuve

Ha-Seong Kim

Pete Alonso

Paul Goldschmidt

Not sure if any of those guys are a fit. And two of them probably get resigned, Paul is just old.

As much as I’d love to pencil Story in at 2nd next year can we really trust him?

I mean if Sale stays healthy all year maybe there is hope.

Story is that guy in the shop/office who does a pretty good job when he shows up. But he calls in sick all the time. Yoshida would be an expensive utility guy unless he shows that he should be a regular. His contract is what it is. It doesn't entitle him to play ahead of someone better.

one that doesn't cost much and will take a 1 year deal

still doesn't address the SP but what the heck with all those young guys on entry level deals Henry will be rolling in the $$

Making it sound like he's calling in sick is not a good comp, IMO. The connotation is he's choosing to not work.

Spending is one way, and one we both wish would be tried, more often, but trading some of this projected depth might land us a SP'er or two.

Some would say they wish Masa would call in sick more often. But if people can get over the overhype, the guy punches in, is as productive as just about everyone else in the company, and never says a bad thing.

not a top of the rotation one. People have been saying that for years but teams are loathe to give up top young arms
