  1. f***....I'm going to 44 in a month. Time to live it up.
  2. RIP John stantonian.mp4
  3. While not huge, Eaton does have 264 big leagues PA's with an OPS 75 points lower, was a full 100 before Durbin got off to a slow start. Eaton has way more swing and miss in his game. 26% k rate
  4. Despite almost 2,000 PAs between the minors and the bigs showing better results? He's not better offensively. RIGHT NOW, in one month he's hit better in AAA than Durbin has at MLB. That' doesn't make him a better hitter.
  5. I'm 100% not missing that at all. A point I've been driving home here is there is no silver bullet fixing this team and even if Eaton was a marginal improvement over Durbin it's not going to move the needle, I'd say I'm the opposite of missing that.
  6. I get he looks better under the hood, but in the end results matter. I pay more attention to those things nowadays too, especially when trying to predict what a guy will do in the future but sometimes it just does not matter, there are players in mlb who have below average bat speed but put up great offensive numbers. Durbin and Eaton have well over 3,000 PA's in the minors between them and Durbin has clearly had better results. If EAton had better bat speed and we were comparing small sample sizes I'd agree with you but we have a lot of results on the field that say otherwise.
  7. I'm in no way shape or form trying to sugar coat antying here. Crochet going down stinks and it's very worrisome, hopefully it's nothing too serious. If he does miss significant time, one small sliver of goodness that comes from that is his opt out in 2031 is dropped and the Sox pick up a $15.00 option in 2032. His age 31, 32 seasons.
  8. Yeah.....the whole team sucks right now. There's very little going right. I think we get stuck in this tunnel of believing there is some kind of silver bullet to fix this team and I firmly believe that when you start acting on that you're just as likley to fudge things up even more and hurt the future even more. At the end of the day, there's nothing that can be done that will help this team if the players they have on this roster don't start hitting. I've made the case that Durbin is a better offensive player than Eaton, even if I'm wrong so what? Maybe Eaton comes up and does perform better is his .610 OPS going to raise the bar???? It sucks, and I know fans don't want to hear this but.......it is what it is.
  9. Is he??? Durbin vs. Eaton AAA .858 ops vs. .799 and Durbin has put up most of his at bats younger AA .755 ops vs. .731 Durbin 23 vs. Eaton 25 Eaton also has a milb K% of 21.7% vs. Durbins 9.1 k% He's striking out almost 2.5 times more than Durbing Durbin has a BB% of 10.7% vs. Eatons 8.75% Durbin has a career ops of .685 in the majors vs. Eatons .610 what am i missing???
  10. Why? Durbin has been better than him at every level. I'm not saying the Sox shouldn't have tried to do better than Durbin, but just because he's been dissapointing doesn't mean Eaton was the answer.
  11. Arias went 0-4 Dude is falling off a cliff!!!! But even his outs were loud, the center fielder on the other team made a leaping catch at the warning track to rob Franklin last night. I'm not sure how much longer they can hold him down. I know they like that 250 PA threshold, and he should reach that in about another month. I think we certianly see him in Worcester sometime early summer.
  12. It might not be out yet, Patreon supporters get the podcast a few days earlier than everyone else.
  13. Even on the last soxprospects.com podcast they were talking about him and saying that even though the results aren't there yet the stuff still looks really good, he's just working on some things.
  14. I can't remember the last time the entire top ten got off to such an amazing start, obviously the news with Valera is a bummer but the system is looking up. About the only thing to be excited about in Sox nation nowadays.
  15. Sox are 2-0 since the firing.....BreSLOW is a guiness 😎
  16. There seems to be a WHOLE lot of "this guy" doesn't look like he did. Who does look good? Contreras and Abreu have been fine and that's really it. Maybe Connor Wong? he has the 3rd highest OPS on this team. If Wong is your 3rd best offensive player something has gone horribly wrong. Players who are playing below their level of talent or past performance either offensively, defensively or both. I just deleted the first few names I typed, it's pretty much the whole roster.
  17. Ok BUT is that really going to fix anything? yeah maybe that helps keep guys like Duran/Anthony in the lineup to get them going but they also need to get Story/Mayer and Durbin going too who hypothetically should be better offensive players than Rafaela as well. It's rearranging the chairs, and if we need to get other people going shouldn't we also be looking to get his defense going too? He won a gold glove last year and is 25 how could his defense possibly of fallen off? I'll reiterate my earlier point, we are searching for a silver bullet that just doesn't exist. reality is this team stinks, and unless people start hitting they're going to continue to stink no matter how you shuffle the defense.
  18. He's a gold glove defender in CF and from what iv'e seen and read he's average at second base. This would be the move to make if he was an offensive juggernaut, but considering his value is almost entirely tied up in his glove it makes zero sense to move him to CF. People get obsessed with thinking there's a silver bullet to every problem but the reality is you can't make chicken out of chicken s***; re-arranging the deck is pointless on this team. Unless they start learning to hit again the season is lost.
  19. If they fire Breslow, who the hell would ever take this job? I think of it like this, I’m not going to work for you if I can see your company is crap, the product is horrible, and the last 3 guys were fired after only a few years and scapegoated. If Breslow goes, Sox will have to either pay insane premiums to bring in a quality guy (and that might not be enough) or hire from within
  20. Haven’t been posting for a while because work has been about as crazy as it’s ever been for me and honestly, this Sox team has just been depressing. ive been a supporter of both Breslow and Cora in the past, and while im starting to sour on Breslow I don’t think Cora is to blame. You can’t make chicken soup out of chicken s***; Cora was handed a flawed roster and everyone has underperformed. I’m not sure any manager in existence could of done much better. What is 100% the most disappointing here is ownership. They’re scapegoating the coaching staff but it’s their roster and it’s Henry’s money. i get what Henry has done for this team and you can’t never take that away. But this is not the same John Henry, unless the ghost of John Henry past starts possessing his body this will not change. They can fire all the coaches, they can fire Breslow and bring in the next guy and that next guy will also swing and miss on the Sotos, the Alonso’s, and the Bregmans just the same because at the end of the day…..it all comes down to John Henry. edit: despite those feelings on not faulting Cora, I’m not whole heartedly against the shake up. I’m just very dissatisfied at the conditions and the actors who all played a role in it coming to this.
  21. The Madstork has arrived, the season has officially begun.
  22. Yeah but is that a slump? it's only been a few games. I wouldn't call that a slump i'd call it a small sample size.
  23. The despair of a crappy start to the season is always somewhat mitigated by the insanely hilarious way too early hot takes.
