There's a reason why they still put 2022 stats on the NESN feed right now.

Because it's still early April.

I was actually just thinking about this the other day. At what point is it time to stop showing 2022 numbers and put 2023 numbers up there? the second series? the second week? 10 days? 14 days? Is there a specific threshold or is it just arbitrary?

I'd say it's arbitrary as heck.

I would either have two lines of stats (22 and 23) or show the stat line twice. On May 1, I'd then stop talking about 22.

Also, I don't know what the talk has been about the LED lights, but I like the LED lights in theory, but hate how the Sox are currently using them. After the Duvall HR, they basically just flicked them on and off like a grandma trying to yell at her grandkids while she's babysitting. They either need to make it more subdued or add a spotlight or color or something else.

When teams get off to a bad start, it's always "still early" -- for months!

For teams that have good starts, it's never too early. To them, they're just good.

I never really pay attention, this year I will.

Maybe we should start a contest in here. Who can guess the date they switch from 2022 stats to 2023 stats.

It's a LONG season. How often has a team started off bad and kicked into high gear to make an October run? and vis versa. Regardless, it's never a bad thing to get off to a good start.

This will root out the mystery Sox employee that Old Red believes posts on here!!! LOL

I'm going to say 4/15. That's the 2nd game of the Angels series and the day after the Apple TV game. It is two weeks into the season.

Or how many times have we said "if only we had one two extra games in April?"

Maybe 2018, when we started out 21-7?

2021 wasn't bad (17-10), when we ended the month winning 4 of 5.

@jcmccaffrey

Adam Duvall won AL player of the week, his first player of the week award in his 10-year career.

In three games, he hit three doubles, a triple, two homers, had eight RBI and six runs scored.

Trade him while his stock is high.

Good read today on Winckowski. He is growing on me.

I've always had hopes for Wink, but I also wondered, if it was just wishful thinking we'd get something of value from that Beni trade.

Last 10 games of ST - 65 runs allowed

First 4 games of RS - 30 runs allowed

A 14 game stretch of allowing close to 7 runs per game.

Luckily the Sox got the stopper Pivetta going today. He’d better be the BP needs a rest already.

I know. God help us. Nick can pitch some good games, we better hope he has one of them in him tonight.

5 innings at the very least, but 6 would be better.

Posting here on the Realistic thread: fans can wish and hope it was 2017 again for Sale, Kluber and Paxton, but realistically, may be have to settle -- and be happy for -- a cumulative .500 won-loss record from the trio... at least that will make the summer competitive.

Meanwhile, a rebuilding team "stretching out" its young arms will take its lumps. Don't know if Red Sox Nation will have the patience for it, but that's the reality for the development of most MLB starters.

The 1988 Atlanta Braves lost 106 games. Tom Glavine, 22, led the NL in losses with 17. John Smoltz, 21, went 2-7 with a 5.48 ERA in his rookie season. Two years later Steve Avery, 20, debuted and went 3-11 with a 5.64. That team only lost 97... Greg Maddux was still with the Cubs, where his first full season produced 6-14, 5.61.

Yikes.

Unless Bello turns out the Red Sox have Nothing close to Smoltz, Glavine, or Maddox in the organization.

Is Dave Bush a good pitching coach, BTW?

Who knows! I think you can only do so much with a pitcher to make them better, or not, and it’s not like Bush has much to work with.

No they do not, but they do have a few guys you can dream on. Might be nice for a change to see a few arms come up to follow Bello, because it seems that all the farm has provided in recent years with pitching has been nightmares.
