Actually, several sites had Mondesi's ETA listed as Mid to late April, a few weeks ago.

Even when we signed him months back Bloom said they knew they were signing someone who was still recovering. You know how these Bloom haters are, they just make s*** up to complain about.

The mind-boggling thing is there are real reasons to critique Bloom. Why not stick to the facts???

Certainly, we all knew Mondesi might not start the year on the 26, but not many felt he'd be on the 60.

To say "everyone knew" is either gross exaggeration of something worse.

Mondesi was just signed as an insurance policy, and a plan C, or D.

Please provide the definitive list on the "facts" or "legitimate reasons to critique Bloom" so that we know what we are permitted to say from here on.

Since Story was known to be out to start the year, I do think the hopes were that he'd be an early option at SS- likely not opening day, but I don't thin Bloom or anyone expected a 60+ days wait.

Can or should Bloom be blamed for not knowing or "guessing wrongly?" Maybe- maybe not.

I do think the team would be better with Mondesi at SS and Kike in CF (or 2B, if Duvall does well.)

GMs who sign Injured or injury prone players have always been criticized. I think it is valid.

Saying "everyone except Bloom knew" he'd go on the 60 day IL is just plain untrue.

In fairness :D I think 700hitter was exercising some sardonic hyperbole there and not intending to be taken literally...

Then it was a bad move. We needed a Plan B first…

Aren’t we already on plan B? The original idea I believe was for Story to be the SS this year.

Good thing they had Bobby Dalbec sharpen up his game at SS.

We've been through this. The SS plans evolved all winter: Ander Bogaerts, Bstory, Cheeke, and Dhang, with Bobby Ealbec waiting in WorZter.

No actual decisions made are excerpt from critique. Go crazy.

Tough loss.

Let's make it 1 and 1, Saturday.

The Sox have only started out 1-0 once since 2017.

And that was in 2020…

It was nice to see them battle back, the pitching was disappointing. If the pitching is going to be a strength, they need Bello and Whitlock back and Sake to stay healthy. Paxton still intrigues me, but 10 runs is a bad look.

You won't have the luxury of facing the Orioles god awful pitching every game. Gibson as opening day starter is embarrassing for them. Sox pitching is gonna hold them back. Hitting will take a step back without Xander.
Posted
Also, I don't see the allure of Kluber and have zero f***ing idea why Kluber was the OD starter. Kluber is elderly in terms of a pitcher. Not just in age but in stuff. He cannot break 90 anymore. Plus, he absolutely imploded in the back half of the season last year. Era first half, mid 3's, ERA back half over 5. This was a stupid signing

Too bad the Sox weren’t facing one of those stud aces like Corbin Burnes, Alek Manoah or Aaron Nola, all of whom turned in stellar performances.

It’s one day of 162…

Now our true ace and #2, #3... will be facing other team's lesser pitchers.

If he can get that down to a non-arbitrarily chosen 4.12 in the second half, would he be worth $36million?

Sardonic hyperbole literacy has been in short supply these days on TalkSox. It has become an extremely boring place.

I see 4.32 over his last 23 GS'd in 2022.

It was 4.18 over his last 9.

The last 16 of his 31 starts?

4.70 with a 3.54 FIP. (Not far from Nestor's 3.34 FIP over his last 16 GS'd.)
