In NONE of those three games, was Justin Wilson coming in to get a save. Do we really think he was going to pitch from the 6th inning all the way until the end of the game? Of course not. He didn't even appear in the 8th inning of any of those 3 "blown saves." Save conversion rates are meaningless.

They're only meaningless when you are not converting them, I guess.......

They don’t have a competent infield with Bregman out.

A combo of hacks and rookies covering the infield.    I am ready to put this back on  Diva Devers  setting the tone here.

I also fail to grasp why this team chose to extend so early on players who aren't even shaving yet.

I get the macroeconomics of tying up the talent but they are already tied up  for multiple years.

You think the guy whom every hated at 3b for 8 years is going to be the 8th wonder of the world at 1b, where he's never played?

One more time.  Casas' injury was actually a good thing because he was stinking up the joint.  Sogard ain't much, but he's no worse than Casas was.  As for the all the errors today, they were by the regulars--Abreu in RF, Duran in LF, and Campbell at 2b.  That's how we started the freaking season.  So this ain't Raffy's fault, not by a long shot.  Plus he batted in 2 of the Sox 5 runs today.

You understand it. Management on this team has been incompetent for years.

Hopefully these loser/bums can manage to lose every single remaining game. They need to tear it all down and start over.

Good post Max. Casa May have been stinking up the joint at the time of his injury, but that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t have turned it around by now. This definitely is not on Raffy. I agree.

Put Campbell at 1st, have Rafaela, Mayer and Story figure out 2B/3B/SS rotation, stick Anthony in the outfield for his BAT.

I don't want to hear Rafaela is an elite defender so he can't be moved.

The bottom line is Rafaela playing CF has gotten us NOTHING. I'll take whatever incremental loss we have in losing Rafaela playing center field against the positive offensive output that Anthony can provide the team that's slumping badly.

Who wants to keep watching this crap for next 100 games?

Go young...put the guys in place....that means

Anthony in the outfield, who says he can't play center field anyway?

Mayer at short, Story should be the one getting moved. His defensive metrics are no longer outstanding.

Figure out what to do with Houck, Crawford, Fitts, Dobbins. Who's starting? Who's the long reliever? Can Kutter be a 8/9th inning arm?

Not a regular first baseman trying to play the position, and ranging to far for a ball again. Then you have a rookie playing 2B who’s bounced around some, and now he’s trying to learn another position while in the mist of a downward batting trend. This is all on Brez, and Cora trying to fit square pegs in round holes.

Not sure campbell has enough bat for 1B. And where exactly do you move story to except for the pine?

Better than spending 10 times that amount on Yoshida and Story.  Long term contracts are always a gamble, but at least the total amounts are pretty small.

You mean the guy who hit like .400 the last month?

He's been tearing it up offensively, so in that regard, you really don't want to mess with him.  OTOH, he really, really should have been willing and happy to play 1B for his teammates.

This team has worn me down.  I can't even defend them anymore.  😞

Somebody, dig me out of this black hole!

Why?   Can you imagine how bad he would have been there, and how the 'fans' would have reacted?  They jerked him around this spring, finally got him to settle in as DH.  No way he was going to be put in a new position after that.   After all, Bregman is so great, why didn't they put HIM at first and Rafy at third?

Because that's what you do as a team player and a leader.  I agree wholeheartedly that the Red Sox jerked him around this spring, but he still needs to be a team player for his teammates.

Bregman should have been put at 2B to start with, leaving Devers at 3B.

You are right because they said so much. Ideally they shouldn't have said that at all and should've talked to Devers about going to 1st as they were about to sign Bregman, or before. Did they not because 1st was supposed to be saved for Casas? Thats no good. They should've used the energy JH used flying to KC to talk to Devers, at the beginning of the year, when they signed someone to take his place.

I disagree. Devers is awful at fielding. Terrible!

OTOH 1B would have been way easier for him and the transition would have been natural.

This 100%. He should play wherever they tell him to. He’s a f***ing diva.

Nonsense, there is no way that devers should be at 3rd over bregman.

devers should been handed a 1B mitt the day they signed bregman.

Instead cora and the FO played games because they were scared of hurting devers' feelings and it blew up in their face.

I didn’t say that Bregman would have changed this game.  I merely stated that the infield defense is not competent without him.

Yes, Casas should have been told that he would be a full time DH.  The move to 1B of Devers should have communicated as soon as they made the trade. Vlad had no problem moving to 1B.
