  1. It was a stupid set up to begin with. I think they were both at fault but even worse is having competing visions that pretty much guarantees failure.
  2. He won't be able to anymore.
  3. I looked this up. As bad as he is hitting, and not leading off, he's still in a three way tie for runs scored on the red sox.
  4. One of the things I like so far is the batting order. Putting Duran 1st and Anthony 3rd makes sense. It feels solid. Before it seemed overly creative. Duran isn't hitting great but its where he's meant to hit. I think in the last 2 games Duran he's hit into 3 fielders choice, not great of course but he made it home on two of them I think and it may be because he puts pressure on the pitcher.
  5. Even a half crappy philosophy is better than two competing philosophies. I think the Cora firing is good if only for that reason. I agree with Coras philosophy about playing veterans but for a different reason, which is to bring up the prospects slowly so they dont get overwhelmed from the new experience. Seems like common sense.
  6. If that is true, it is so asinine. Its treating people like throwaway parts. Use up, throw away, get the next in line, using them making millions of dollars as leverage to do their bidding. Edit - It certainly fits in the way they said JH didnt talk to the team at all and Breslow spoke about 2 minutes after that massive firing. I would like to know the real story behind Cora and Breslow. I thought it was Cora that was the analytics guy but I've heard people say by firing Cora, analytics wins.
  7. I thought it was great that they were voted the best, if not one of the best farm systems in the league. Just constantly buying all stars doesnt guarantee success. If you are a big market team, you have the luxury to start small and then spend big, getting the best of both worlds. Whats wrong with that as an identity?
  8. Thats what I cant understand. They're trying to build a winning team with young prospects, which I thought was great. Then they just bungle it all up before it starts with the signing of Bregman without talking to Devers, Completely avoidable drama. And its not like they had this sudden opportunity they had to go for. They had the whole winter. Thats why I think Brezlow is as culpable as Cora.
  9. Will we ever know why this happened? Other than the poor start that is. Is this a case of Brezlow being more chummy or what? I thought it should've been a complete house cleaning myself.
  10. Three things. 1. Building farm system, and relying on it too fast 2. Constantly changing GMs with the new ones inheriting the problems that the other one got fired for 3. Just not making smart moves, ie having multiple players for one position, or Bregman/Devers fiasco. Beyond that, Im a believer in the old school ways, especially for this team at this time. I think these new analytics guys got the players thinking too much, and not playing enough. Bad coaches and manager, except Varitek and maybe Assistant Manager.
  11. Interesting, because instability is the problem I sense. How can talent be judged if the talent isnt somewhat relaxed?
  12. Pick a record we should not go under at the 2/3 mark of the season, and fire Cora if we dont make above it. Fire Brezlow too, as well as the hitting coach.
  13. Sox are still "me try hit ball."
