What’s up fellow posters?!!!!I thought this site had disappeared forever. Just found that they have upgraded it. Thank goodness I remembered my email. Lol. Anyway very nice to see our Sox team make some moves this off-season. Hope they don’t stop though. It’s not like they have spended  a lot of cash but at least they’re trying something.

Why do you refuse to acknowledge the existence of Brandon Lyon?

Fox.  Lyon.  All predatory animals…

Yeah. Henry has spent a BUNDLE going FULL THROTTLE to upgrade the team.

With trades and reclamation projects. This team doesn't deserve its loyal fan base.

If Heineman or Zavala are the second catcher and we let Jansen walk Breslow should be fired and sued for malpractice.

Narvaez would be the #2. They would be depth.

Narvaez is really good on D. His bat is a major concern, but he did show 20 HR power and a nice OBP in the monirs.

My guess is we'll add a catcher or two on minor league deals and maybe make one more slash with a RHB.

notin suggested a trade for Sean Murphy that would check both boxes, but leave us counting on Mayer and Romy at SS.

There's been handwringing about his k rate, but I'm not sure it's that much different than what Wong's was in AAA (27.9% in 21, 22.5% in 22). He has a much better bb rate than Wong did in AAA too.

He's already way better than Wong on D- not a hard thing to do, but reports say he is a plus-plus catcher on D.

Compared to Wong in the minors:

Wong: .276/.337/.496/.832 (AAA .327 OBP/.471 SLG w 23 HRs & 138 Ks  in 563 PAs)

Narvaez: .250/.364/.382/.746 (AAA: .371 OBP/.400 SLG w 21 HRs & 196 Ks in 762 PAs)

Narvaez: Way better D, better OBP

Wong: better SLG

Pretty close on K rate and HRs in AAA.

Teoscar re-signs with Dodges 3/66.

I thought maybe he could be had for a 4 year deal between $76-80M.

Thanks moon. Good to see you. So what do you think so far? You like the moves? You think they gave a lot for crochet?

We overpaid for Crochet, but I think it is the price needed to pay for what we needed most. Crochet has questions, but he's younger than any FA signing would have been. I'm not high on the Buehler pillow contract, but he looks like a better bet than Kluber, Richards, Wacha and Hill were, but at double the cost, that is expected, The Chapman signing was okay, but not instead of adding a closer.

If this is all we do, I'm not happy, at all. We basically traded for a two year window with Crochet, unless we extend him, so we need more to make a strong push. (Bregman, Burnes or Scott/Hoffman.)

I would have been disappointed if the sox spent $ on another Out fielder...

I think signing Teoscar would have meant a sure trade of Rafaela or Abreu, leaving this:

LF: Teoscar (Refsnyder)

CF: Duran (Anthony)

RF: Anthony/Rafaela or Abreu/Anthony (Campbell)

Maybe we'd get a decent RP and a back-up catcher for Abreu (or Abreu + DHam)

Our outfield is very young, but also above average defensively and getting better offensively!!!  Plus we have a potential star on the rise as well

I get it, but we need a RHB< and there isn't much out there.

Abreu sucks vs LHPs, and Anthony is poised to grab the FT RF/CF job. I get it. Campbell can play F, too.

I really like Abreu, but I think we'd get a very useful piece by trading him.  Teoscar makes it easier to part with Wilyer.

Teoscar was never going to the Red Sox

Didn't seem that way, but all the talk was the Dodgers were "far apart."

They also have to pay 110% tax on the deal. Hard to compete with that.

Next contract time, they need to do something about the differed money lowering the AAV. The Dodgers are already making a mockery out of the lux tax rules, as it is.

They say the Teoscare signing at $63M/3 will cost them $40M in taxes, which shows you just how much they can outbid anyone for anyone they want, except maybe Cohen, but really, the tax is 110%. They should have to pay $67M tax not $40M. Maybe then, they might not do it.

Here is my stab in the dark...

2. Burnes $240M/8- Toronto

3. Bregman $200M/8- NYY

7. Alonso $130M/5- SEA

8. Flaherty $120M/5- SFG

9. Santander $95M/5- HOU

14. Scott $70M/5- BAL

*18. Hoffman $50M/4- NYM

*22. Estevez $30M/3- BOS

*28. Pivetta $63M/3 (MLBR has $21M/1) TEX

16. Profar $50M/3 LAA

25. Heaney $25M/2- PHI

26. H Kim $25M/3- MIL

31. Quintana $22M/2- KCR

Corbin Burnes and the D-backs agreed on a six-year, $210 million deal, a source told MLB.com's Mark Feinsand on Saturday. The deal includes an opt-out clause after 2026.

That's a surprising one. You have to wonder why all the big teams stayed away....

He's from Arizona, just had twins, and wanted to stay home... for less than what the Jays and Giants offered.

So it wasn't about the-- wait, taxes are a bigger hit in Toronto and SF...

The taxes are much more favorable in Arizona

SFG was also going to lose more draft picks and I think bonus money, if the signed another QO guys.

The best guys still out there that could make an impact are...

Bregman (only if they moves Devers to a 1B/DH share with casas.)

Scott (I seriously doubt we even make a piddly-ass offer.)

Santander (We'd have to trade Rafaela and or Abreu for a pitcher or catcher or both to make sense.)

Hoffman (might be our best hope for actually winning an auction on someone good.)

Lesser add-ons:

Estevez, Kittredge or Sewald

Or

Trade for Arenado, Castillo/Woo/Miller or Pablo Lopez or _____?

Trade for a catcher or big RHB (Sean Murphy could fill both needs.)
