And the announcers were all over Pedro for sidestepping a 250 lb bull for some reason.

My cousin the Yankee fan called me on the phone right after also watching it live on FOX.

"I can't believe Pedro Martinez picked a fight with Don Zimmer," he said, pardoning the perpetrator.

Or just sign Bregman and DH Devers.

that lineup and infield defense is better

I'd let Devers play 1B or split time with Casas at 1B and DH.

Devers has a nice glove. it's his arm that causes most of his issues on D.

And do what with Masa?

Definitely not as cool as Kikuchi.

I'm not the one signing Bregman or Arenado but shiiiiiit they've been linked to Boston all darn offseason.

I will say this.  I'm not trading Casas just because I don't have the balls to DFA Yoshida or trade him eating all the salary.  You're paying all his damn salary anyways.   On this team or off of it.

The other option is:

C Wong/Whoever

1B/DH Devers/Casas

2B Campbell/Romy

SS Story

3B Acquisition

RF Anthony

CF Duran/Rafaela

LF Masa/Refsnyder

Traded/Optioned Abreu, Hamilton

Not you specifically.  I think we can all assume that MVP is not John Henry.

If I had 1% of his money, I'd disappear and never be heard from again.

I’m guessing JH just hates paying out the past few years all the money he has had to pay out for players either on the IL, or players playing for other teams. Especially $17M to Atlanta last year for not only Sale playing for them, and winning the CY to boot, so all make it sound so easy on here to DFA Yoshida, trade Yoshida, and eat all his salary, or send him to the minors. None of that makes any financial sense at all , which JH sees more than worrying about who doesn’t fit where on the roster. The Red Sox haven’t participated in the Postseason the last three years, because of the Raffy, Casas, and Yoshida doesn’t fit where people think they should fit.

He hates doing it, but he did it for David Price 2020-2022 and Chris Sale 2024. In 2023, he paid almost 14M for Barnes and Kiké to play elsewhere..

Sale may have been the final straw. We’ll see.

Whether he likes paying it or not, Henry has been in the ownership game long enough and with enough teams to know what comes with the job.

And it’s not like it’s his money…

I bet not.

The Sox will almost definitely pay another player to play for another team.  At some point, that action can improve the current team and pay for itself.  It didn’t with Sale, but it did with Sandoval and Hanley…

Whose money is it?

The bottom line profit/loss and increase/decrease in market value belongs to the shareholders of Fenway Sports Group, of which Henry is the principal shareholder with 40% or so.

Henry could actually claim that since he doesn't own a majority of shares, he doesn't have control over the payroll.

We're owned by a consortium now.

Then who specifically fired Bloom? Was it put up for a shareholder vote or did Henry make the call?

Trade, bench or use a Yoshida-Ref platoon in LF and trade Abfreu for a catcher and a  decent RP'er.

1. Duran CF

2. Bregman 3B

3. Casas DH/1B

4. Devers 1B/DH

5. Campbell 2B

6. Anthony RF

7. Yoshida-Refsnyder LF platoon

8. Story SS

9. Wong-__ trade___ C

Bench: Rafaela, a catcher, Ref or Yoshida and one from DHam, Grissom or Romy.

Pen improved via Abreu trade.

Of all the things I have read the MOST UNLIKELY thing I think would happen is Yoshida still in a Red Sox uniform standing out in LF with a glove on his hand.🤭🙈.

And I totally agree, unless we move Devers to 1B or DH- your favorite topic.

I just don’t see any, zero, or zilch scenarios where Yoshida would go back out in the OF ever again for the Red Sox.

Cora has said he will be "primarily" the DH in 2025. Where is he "secondary?"

There is no secondary. As of now primarily to me means he’ll be the DH unless someone else platoons against LHP. I don’t see Bregman, or Arenado coming to Boston unless Yoshida, or Casas are gone packing. Bregman may be a short term fix at 2B, but I’m not to enthralled with that idea.

I doubt we bring in a 3B, too.

The article I read on Cora about Yoshida siad...

"meaning he will likely only see very limited time in the outfield, if any at all; Cora has emphasized that Yoshida's role will remain primarily as a DH going forward"
