If I went 0-5 with 4k's I wouldn't want to play today either. Edited by Nick

Who was that f***ing idiot making fun of me when I said I prefer Duran over Duval?

He has turned 3 singles into 3 doubles today.

My main point was Duran is under team control for 5 more years.

Why would you want him sitting on bench?

Kike comes through again.

0-3 with 3 Ks.

Stranding runners on 2nd and 3rd with one out.

Nice $10M investment.

I agree 100%. Duran should play every day. And he is one of the last guys I would consider trading at the deadline.

I think holding Duran is a good choice, but to me it makes Ceddane Rafaela more expendable (unless he moves to SS)…

Can't we have one of them in right field, like when we had Betts and Bradley?

I agree. But usually here we're all about what the head of ops was left with, and what he was stuck with.

I know, and it's the wrong way to look at it IMO.

Calm down. I, too, love me some Duran, but you don't have to call people f***ing idiots like that just because they were, are, and will be wrong.

It seems like the shortstop position has been reserved ( perhaps prematurely) for Mayer. At least on TalkSox. But Mayer still has to show that he can handle the progression through the minors. He is currently trying to adjust to AA ball.

Nope. Against the law.

Plus, Verdugo…

Mayer is in AA. He’s not the MLB SS and may never be. If Rafaela moves to SS, it makes sense. Hamilton, While better than Kike, isn’t really a full time starter just yet. (And may never be one.)

Ok i will quit being a dick.

I just don't think we have enough for playoffs.

I am more concerned about building for future.

I see Wong Casas Story Mayer Devers Duran Verdugo Rafaela and Yoshida as the core going forward. Throw in Refs Abreu Yorke as other possibilities.

Our pitching staff needs work. I am not counting Sale at all. Whitlock is fast approaching Sale clone injury wise.

That's one reason I am so hard on Kike and Duval. They are on a one year deal. They are not being productive.

I am positive I didn't disagree with you. Duran isn't perfect, but right now he's better than Duvall in the field, on the base paths, and at bat.

Duvall had a great first 8 games--OPS 1.699--and has just stunk in his subsequent 19 games with an OPS under .540. His career OPS is .758, but the real telltale was last season when it was .677. The Sox have four healthy outfielders--Dugo, Duran, Yoshida, and Refsnyder--who are all better than Duvall right now.

Despite the above, I'm not about to recommend pitching Duvall on the ash heap of history. He could still turn things around.

Unreal game by Duran!

Dugo with the big hit.

Devers forevers.

Mighty pen effort!

Let’s hope this springboards us into a WC slot.

Don't stop--you are often right and otherwise great counterpoint. Way back in April I predicted the Sox would finish with a losing record. Now I'm hopeful despite still another freaking "injury" today to Whitlock.

It's pretty obvious Kike and Duvall are overpaid, so their being on one year contracts is a plus.

I know nobody is giving up on Duvall, and for good reason. While the start of 2023 might have been fluky, the guy can hit.

He’s coming back from an injury to a key area of the body for a hitter. Maybe he rushed back, too quickly.

I'll say it again. Unpopular opinion: They should blow this roster up and build for next season and beyond. I love the foundation they've built and they'll have money to burn this offseason.

Blow it up as in trade who, though?

Big win, today. Puts us right back in it.

Man, this team is streaky!

It's been a crazy ride. When you think they're going good, they flatline. When you think they're dead, Dr. Frankenstein plugs them back in.

The problem is Duran has been amazing this year. And it leaves very little room for Duvall…

Pivetta has been amazing since they put him in the pen. What a weird game this is.

Looking ahead however, do you offer arbitration to a non-closing RP already making $6.5mill?

Kike is either a DP or infield fly most of the time. Needs to go back to the Dodgers. Duval cannot see the ball. They need to be traded for prospects even if Sox pay the entire salary due.

i agree and would add Bello to that core group. i think i'm more excited about him than anybody in the organization right now.
