Bogaerts seems to be a different kind of player. That being said, it behooves him to be dealt. As a traded player in season, he cannot be offered a QO and therefore wouldnt have compensation attached when he signs

I was thinking that, too.

Then, I wondered if the did away with that.

Bogey is clearly dealing with some sort of shoulder injury, but playing through it.

At some point, our medical and training staffs need to be called out over all these soft tissue injuries this year!

It is also worth noting that Bradley has been absolutely terrible ... in his first incarnation, his terrific defense was augmented by decent production, which was annoying because it was decent with extremely high variability. Basically, offensively - he was a working class Adam Dunn. But he basically has totally forgotten how to hit at this point.

This year he has cut down his strikeouts - but he also cut down everything positive he did too (walking, hitting the ball hard)

Jon Heyman has said there is an outside chance Bradley goes to the Phillies who are desperate for CF defence.

All I can say to that is - please happen.

No way. If Bloom pulls that off, I want to hear some apologies.

Bloom apologizing to Red Sox fans for not replacing Renfroe's power bat in the outfield?

... but isn't Dombro the exact type of old school GM going for it now that a rebuilder like Bloom wants to take advantage of? Don't be surprised if Eovaldi has a good outing tonight that he isn't also part of a package to Philly with JBJ. And maybe we get a bidding war with the Mets, who'd want Vaz and Nate (to keep him away from the Phils).

Why does it matter what position the power bat plays? He did replace Renfroe (19 HR 43 RBI) with Trevor Story (15 HR 58 RBI)…

Wouldn't you then subtract hernandez's numbers in the 47 games he played at 2nd in 2021 and arroyo's 2021 HR's (6) and RBI's (25) from story's to get a fairer assessment?

Not to mention I believe arroyo also had a 0.00 ERA for the sox last year!

Gee, let's see, since they both play/ed the right side of the infield for Boston, then Story's power bat replaced Schwarber's.

Nobody replaced Renfroe's.

And all of us that posted last winter expected or demanded Bloom finish building the roster by adding an outfielder who could actually hit, preferably from the right side. We're still waiting.

I wouldn't expect it to happen today or tomorrow.

Considering what the OF looked like at the start of 21 and 22, but I don't know if you can expect that acquisition this offseason either.

I don't see how Bloom, Henry or anyone can sell tickets for 2023 if the Red Sox don't have at least one new fulltime MLB outfielder. If Kike can't fully heal or isn't re-signed, then they're going to need at least two.

They can even be as bad as Mike Greenwell, who for some reason gets absolutely no credit for playing a dozen years in the big leagues with a career batting average of .303 and an .830 OPS.

Bradley's home numbers are very decent. His road numbers are atrocious.

Maybe it's wishful thinking, but I really think that Bogaerts wants to stay in Boston.

He'd be dealing with Dombrowski, so it's possible.

Tremendous split, almost like 2 completely different players.

It doesn't matter what his home numbers are. He sucks period. He's been negative value since 2021.

The Gator was a fun player who just didn't play well with the media and injuries shortened his career. He could flat out hit.

Dombrowski will throw in a couple extra prospects just to get the phone call over with quicker.

Didn't he go to Japan, and refuse to accept his salary because he had a bad year there? (What I recall best of him was his taking one in the ear from Randy Johnson).

I vaguely remember him going to Japan, but not the Randy piece. I do remember him racing stock cars up in NH in the offseason though.

What’s Dombrowski going to do with prospects?

It's another one of those great baseball enigmas. I can understand some difference, but this is like day and night.

On the whole, it has not been good.

Get on the phone Bloom!

If we could pry O’Hoppe from the Phillies, I’d be surprised and excited.

Maybe we throw money in with the big contracts or take on Kingery’s deal as an offset.

Another option might be to add Verdugo or Duran, since I think I read Philly needs an OF’er.
