My guess is a slight improvement in our RH options.  And if he doesn't hit over the next two weeks, or maybe even if he does, he'll be replaced.

BTV Accepts:

Story, Azocar & Wong

for

Hunter Goodman & Ezequiel Tovar

also...

Story, Arias & Mayer (could play 3B or 2B)

for

Neto

And why are the Rockies trading Hunter Goodman for backup catcher and a singular half decent prospect?

Didnt realize Goodman had 3 more years.

I would not trade Arias even up for Neto.

Neto is great player man, I’d love for him to be on RS.

And Monforts are strangely loyal. I do wonder if Langeliers would be available for pitching??

Would be nice.

BTV says Mayer and Witherspoon.

I say we make a run at Juan Soto.  The Mets have not improved their team since last year.  Soto has an out in his contract in 2030.  We need a big bat.

Looking for positional Improvement:

based on league rankings on OPS:

C- rank 19th .629 split fairly even Narvaez is .527 ( I think Wong should get most AB’s moving forward) 2026 trade deadline could use improvement

1b-rank 3rd .895 (love Willson he’s been so good, pulling the ball air side most in career) limit suspensions we golden

2b- rank 26th .630 —-Mayer is .564 Romy and Seigler look solid, I’m ok riding with them….or moving them positions if we can pick up a much improved hitter at 2b.

SS- rank 23rd .629— Story is .560 just don’t have an answer here on roster….that coupled w/ lack of production at 2b makes this offensively bottom 3 middle infields in baseball.

3b- rank 15 .710 —— Durbin .688 last 28 days .966 OPS even if he cools to .750+  we are set.

LF- rank 27th .647—— Duran .620/ Roman .633 Get Roman back/ hitting like he did last summer we’re golden

CF- rank 13th 724—— solid

RF- rank 12th 763—— solid

DH-rank 24th 667——— Yoshida .668 could Use improvement 🙏

Recap Only 1 position in top 10 (not enough) LF/ DH is major disappointment not many foresaw, middle Infield is terrible, catcher is fine but not if we are whiffing offensively at 4 other positions. Getting 2025 Roman back could be the big addition we need, but I still think we need a Jo Adell/ Paredes type addition to offensively give us a chance.

Cespedes, Holobetz, Romero or Uberstine, ideally. More likely Phillips, Delzine or Soto.

He had a .970 OPS vs. LHP last year.  Feels like a 2 week flier to see if he can recreate that.  If not he will be cut.  A lot of sellers are still going to be holding out and he got DFA'd so it makes sense with Nate Eaton struggling and going down.

This feels like a line from Game of Thrones

It’s been widely documented last 20 years, they have kept star players instead of taking massive trade hauls for them, that would have helped the teams sustainability. “Stubbornly loyal.” Is the motto of their tiny underperforming fiefdom.

How about Anthony Eyanson, Yoeilin Cespedes, and Brooks Brannon to Houston for Jeremy Pena?

I'd go for that in a heartbeat, but I don't think the A's would.  Besides the value issue, I think the A's still plan on De Vries as their future SS.

Not sure I’d pay anyone beside Ohtani that much money. At least between tv and merch, Ohtanis deal is already paid for itself. It would be a 4/204 deal if he opts out in 2030. If it’s a salary dump what would we have to give up in prospects if we took on that whole deal? We will drop payroll by over 50m by the end of 2027 with story and Yoshida off the books. Probably Duran by then too, which is another 8-10m saved.

ill talk to The Os, if they’re out of it, on Alonso. Take that whole deal and send back a couple 11-20 prospects. If they are getting rid of these guys it’s for salary reasons. Both would have 4 years left. One 51m per and the other is 31m

id rather go with Alonso. The deals over in four years. If Soto got hurt he won’t opt out. I don’t want to chance having to pay some dude 51m per for 13 more year until he’s 40. No thanks.

Yeah I cite that all the time.

It just felt like you were saying “Lord Montfort will refuse to bend the knee for the Targaryen girl.”

No law says they can’t flip Mayer or have to keep him at shortstop…

If he's a shortstop he can play anywhere: Broadway, Vegas, Whisky a Go-Go...

Oh yeah?  Can he do Aaron Burr in Hamilton?
