  1. Two more years in the minors in development would have been best for Anthony. Duran is better but he's been here longer. Only Abreu is competent.
  2. Anthony got an assist from the outfield to end the 3rd, but his arm is a liability.
  3. This has been my issue for a very long time: Hyping players who have never repeated performance year over year, which is the result of salesmen who pitch distraction as big contracts are proffered. We do not have a home run hitter on our team. Anthony looked like a contact doubles guy (sort of like a Boggs) but this year is being pushed to try to hit homers (that doesn't work). He had one big homer last year and everyone hyped as the next coming Ruth and Williams. Focus on contact first. I look at Mayer and his size and think he should be playing 3rd base, not 2nd. Like Anthony, he needs to be focused on contact and the best way is in the minors. Rafaela may have outfield speed, but base stealing and bunting doesn't seem to be his thing. Pitching staffs have adjusted to him. Work on contact. Again, I don't understand these Breslow contracts to the unproven.
  4. The problem with the team is with those responsible for putting the players on the roster, and not with Cora. When a team cannot attract top talent or retain it, or evaluate young talent, and heads don't roll, no coach is safe.
  5. Celebrating a homer off the left fielder is rather pathetic.
  6. Batting practice against Oriole pitchers today.
  7. The problem is the front office and offensive scouting. Instead of signing the real thing, we settled on what ifs and now we have an offense of what ifs. We ignored so many top players in free agency the last 4 years that it's obvious that winning isn't everything. In 2021 I wrote here we should go after Freddie Freeman. Instead we get more Bobby I can't see Dalbec, Franchy Cordova, and Tristan I can't hit Casas. Who is scouting these people.
  8. Our best pitcher down the stretch last year, Giolito, just signed with the Padres. This team has no power. No pitcher in the league is worried about anyone in our lineup. We have Andruw Monasterio batting DH for us. If that isn't a red flag, I can't help you guys. There have been some big name FAs over the past 4 years and the team has not made any substantial commitments outside of Bregman for one year. Then the team locks up these unproven (and now no longer hungry players) to huge contracts. We have only one guy in the outfield who can throw the ball. Almost all are swinging wildly for the fence (and you wonder why there are so many injuries). We are currently 27th in batting average, 24th in walks, and tied for dead last in home runs. and all alone at the bottom in total bases. Trade them all.
  9. Lucas Giolito is available. Justin Wilson is available.
  10. Nice game again by Early, he gave up his first homer in his short career (33 innings).
  11. Well, we are back to being all alone in last place, 4-9. Only the White Sox have scored less runs than us. Our lineup is a Who's Who's That of nobodies without power. Our relief pitchers aren't getting it done.
  12. When does Cora and Breslow get the boot? Worst pairing ever.
  13. Cora should have left Early in the game. Another poor managerial decision.
  14. Chaim Bloom looks ready to run another storied program into the ground.
  15. Why didn't we resign Wilson? We need pitching and don't seem to have it.
  16. Contreras was still "upset" from getting grazed (on the hand) when slid into Hamilton. He didn't even try to get out of the way of the pitch (I hate awarding a player first for not trying to get out of the way).
  17. Contreras went in late to Hamilton, spikes high. Should be kicked out. If I'm the Brewers, he's going to be seeing a bunch of up and in.
  18. Happy Easter! And now we are all alone with the worst record in baseball, 2-7.
  19. I really doubt the accuracy of ABS with a 2 dimensional strike zone plain set in the middle of the plate, 8.5" from front of the plate especially when it's giving ball calls with a measurement of 0.1" low on a curve. I get they had problems in the minors using the Hawk-Eye camera system with a true 3 dimensional strike zone, but I'm surprised they don't have a vertical sensor around the plate.
