No, the reason he used 7 pitchers yesterday is because dumb ass Buehler got himself thrown out in the 3rd inning

whitlock threw 30 pitches, Wilson threw 20 and Weissert threw 10. are they going to turn into a gotdamn pumpkin if they throw more than one f***ing inning? apparently Cora thinks so. 10 pitches. f***. the other day he was in a bind for relievers the day after using Wilson for FOUR f***ing pitches. f*** Cora.

I have to assume you are ignoring the fact Wilson also threw 24 Monday night and Weissert threw 17 in that game.  If you plan on having a shot at an effective bullpen in July (let alone September), you can’t trot guys out every night.  No manager does the same things in May that he does in September.

They scored 1 run and struck out 16 times.  Thats the story, not how the pitching staff was handled.

Thank you for focusing on the only thing that ultimately mattered.  16 K's out of 27 outs ??  Really bad.

Score 1 run,   very rarely win.   And it wasn't Crochet giving up multiple runs

Cora is purposely losing us games. He did this the last time we got some momentum going by subbing Houck when he was having his best start against Toronto. Houck had an 86 pitch count. What is it with Cora not wanting pitchers to be too succesful. It doesnt take a genius to understand that when a pitcher has your number, the offense would feel revitalized when they take him out of there, especially knowing there is a pattern of success of it happening so many times. Sounds like Ramon Vasquez would fill in nicely.

The team needs to score more runs. Instead of making available changes to possibly do that, management sits tight and the season drifts along in limbo. We will have 1/3 or the season over soon. How much evidence does management need? Fire Cora and put Moon in charge. At least we would see some action.

Crochett is leading MLB in pitches thrown and innings. A guy who has only pitched 243 innings since being drafted in 2020. You probably don't to be riding that guy too hard early on IMO.

Especially when you've invested a ton in him.

100%. You don't treat that guy like a used car that you are looking to trade out or scrap in the next year. He's a foundational piece.

It's the same thing with Raffy. If his shoulder is a little wonky and keeping him at DH helps him for now, just leave him at DH. Sox need to worry about the long term AND short term. You do both if you can manage the health of your best players.

During the game, no. The morning after the game, should be a different story!

Well if this is just a hiccup and we keep up the momentum we've been building, then ok but this is a repeating pattern. It seems like the bullpen does fine unless they replace a starting pitcher that doesnt need it. No you don't want Crochet's arm to be overused, but he's built like a more muscular Randy Johnson and could probably handle it more than most. Maybe he should pitch to contact more. Pitchers today are pitching less but getting injured more. Huh? Yes because they're throwing harder, so they should stop doing that. Greg Maddux and Jamie Moyer threw much slower than the average pitchers back then and they were very effective.

I agree about pitching to contract and working more on being a control pitcher like Maddux. If every pitcher took 2 mph off their velo, but had much more advanced control they'd be better off for it.

That's because analytics departments will deduce that batters should then drop the angle of their back shoulders 2 more percent to compensate.

However, many batting coaches, upon being ordered to implement such adjustments, may misinterpret the way to measure such tweaks, and alter swings by as much as 20% instead of 2%.

The result -- when contact is actually made -- will be a rash of pop-ups to the catcher.

When called to the front office, one BP instructor will plead he's a ballplayer, not a math whiz. Another will admit he skipped geometry that day to go trout fishing. A third will confess he broke his plastic protractor in school trying to turn it into a helicopter on the point of his pencil... They'll all look at each other and nod.

85 pitches out of Crochet was ridiculous at this time. They are all important games and he is a horse.  It seems like a philosophical move based on analytics to me.  It was planned and scheduled much like days off to players whether they happen to be hot or not.

Crochet has actually pitched very few innings in his career.  He's a big strong guy and we want him to be a horse, but he has no horse history.  So, they're being a little careful.
