    If Crochet alone comes back and AR is healthy, for me that is all it takes. I would assume that Houk would go to the bullpen. Might be where he belongs anyway. Oviedo who knows right. he might help at some time.

    Once again, I hated seeing two promising young pitching prospects traded but one thing that I don’t think has been mentioned - Do some of you think that we will never get a healthy Crochet back, how about Oviedo and Houck? I’m assuming we will at some point either this year or next. I like their chances of being more productive than either of the promising rookies traded. We got a beast back in the Mayer trade- a guy that will help us right now. I don’t think that we sacrificed much with respect to the future.

    I don’t think Narvaez going will have any effect on this team at all. Now, bringing a new starting outfielder as well as a new starting shortstop etc. could have a great affect on a group of guys who have played as a team for a good stretch of time now. We’ll see how it all works out.

    I’ve mulled this trade over for awhile now and as much as I hate trading solid pitching prospects, I’m liking this trade right now. I’ve never been a big fan of Narvaez and we replaced him with a real good one. I’ve always liked Wong as a second catcher. Our team has obviously been playing at an elite level and one of the things that hasn’t been mentioned is that the chemistry of what we have going was not changed at all with this move.

    We just keep scratching our heads and saying how long can this roster keep this up and this roster just keeps on keeping it up!

    It’s got to drive the data driven analytical folks nuts because in many ways it just isn’t explainable. it’s a whole bunch of professionals playing as one for each other.

    ` It has been a magical season. I’m glad Tolle is still in a Red Sox uniform. Trading anybody for anybody right now might possibly screw up what we already have. A group of guys many of whom have either been journeymen or career minor leaguers are playing together and winning. Whatever the formula is it’s working.

    After the Mead deal we don’t have much to deal if there is interest in keeping Arias which i think they should. I would be surprised if any substantial deals for us get done.

    Kind of a tough call with Duran for sure right now but personally I’m ok with him out there. In general, I don’t like the concept of platooning and going lefty righty. The team has something going right now and for the present I wouldn’t mess with it much.

    I certainly wouldn’t trade any of our most promising young pitchers right now for anyone. The pitchers we do have can’t stay off the il.

    I think that I would add Bennett to the no can trade list. Another quality young arm.

    I doubt that he is going to be traded but based on that very small sample size which people like to talk about I haven’t seen much to make me think that he is going to be a major upgrade in the power department and his fielding is suspect. If it came down to trading him or one of our young starting pitchers, he would be gone yesterday.

    Oh wait I think that I should have added Houck, Bello, Crawford and Duran to this list as well as any number of others that no one would want.

    There is no way that I would trade Eyanson at this point. Witherspoon maybe I guess. Arias reluctantly. I would give up Early before I would even start thinking about Bennett or Tolle. Chapman - yup Mayer - yup Anthony - possibly Gray - either trade him or sign him up for a couple of years. I understand that you have to give up something to get something but giving up very promising young pitching to me is just foolish. I’d sit on what we have before I would trade any one of them. I doubt that anybody is going to blow us a way. We just need one more power bat in that lineup.

    Pitching, defense, and a healthy dose of small ball, something we haven’t seen in years, looks like real baseball again to me.

    Confusing time for sure. With this latest upsurge, I actually am enjoying watching baseball again. I am one of those guys who just wants a competitive team to stand behind. Obviously we have some holes here but our young starting pitching along with Gray and Suarez has been incredible. Once again, I think that trading any of our young pitchers at all in addition to Arias would be ridiculous.
