I would rather try to improve our chances this year 2024, and worry about 2025, and beyond after this season is over. If the chances for 2024 can be improved along with 2025, and beyond all the better, but improving the chances for 2024 are owed to all Red Sox personnel in that clubhouse IMO.

" Wait until next year" is getting a little tiresome.

No doubt.

Never thinking of the future can bring that about for long periods.

The Phillies list 2 of 3 to the A’s last week, including one game by a score of 18-3. Should the Phillies sell?

A win of a 20-7 score, or a loss by the same score only counts as 1 game in the standings, and doesn’t count for anything the next game. The Yankees are in town, and taking 2-3 from them will talk some fans down off the ledge just like the night before when the Red Sox shutout the Rockies for their only win on the trip. It’s still only July 24, and there are 60 games to go, and most likely securing a postseason berth will go right down to the last of those 60 games.

That has been the battle cry on here for the last three years at least that I know of.

The future should be now first, and not next year, or the year after. Here’s a thought how about doing both at the same time? There seems to be a misconception on here that you have to do one of the other.

Amazing how bunched up the top 7-8 in the AL are.

7 teams have between 40 and 47 losses, and HOU leads the ALW and has 49 losses.

A lot of teams still in this thing.

SEA is still in the ALW race and the WC, too.

TEX and TBR are long shots.

We need a win streak,

The NL is wide open, with just 2 teams out of it.

The top 3 teams have 43 or fewer losses, but then the next 10 teams are between 46 and 55 losses. STL is the 3rd WC with 49 losses, and 7 teams are 6 or less losses away.

It's very close between the 2WC, 3WC and 3 others:

48 losses NYM

49 STL

50 SDP

50 ARI

50 PIT

53 CIN

54 SFG

55 CHC & WSH

WOW!

I mean, you could've said that after 2003, but then they won 4 WS.

Sox have a very difficult schedule down the stretch and they just whiffed in COL. Not looking great at the moment, but maybe a trade or two will give them a boost?

The Brez has supposedly now picked a lane, so now we’ll get to he how fast, and how far he’s willing to go.

As always, show me don't tell me.

Exactly, and he’s going to have plenty of company who wants to do the same thing, so it’s not going to be easy.

It was kind of a different "wait till next year" back then. Back then Red Sox Nation burned with equal parts passionate longing and deep frustration.

Now it's more of a "good times are coming so relax" feeling the Sox front office is trying to project.

Personally I'm very happy with the Cora extension and I think it's a good sign for what's to come.

And I think Breslow is going to make some moves now. Go Crag!

But don't trade Cespedes for Larry Andersen!

Or Tyler Anderson. Or Hans Christiain Anderson.

I feel a little antsy. Not full blown angst. More like "stop dicking around."

Agreed on point one. Not sure about point two. Breslow hasn't been a part of the trade deadline before. He may be surprised at the price point of some of these guys.

Bagwell had an 880 OPS in AA that year. It'd be like trading one of the Big 3 for Matt Strahm.

I thought Brez said he was involved in making deals at one of the Cubs' deadlines. Wasn't his daughter upset with him for trading her favorite player?

There are so many teams still in contention for a wildcard spot, so it will not only be price point, but lots of competition.

It will be interesting to see what the Mets do at the deadline. They have turned their season around big time.

They’ve already declared themselves buyers…

The sellers at this point appear to be the bottom two teams in every division, except the NL Central, where Chicago and Cincy could go either way. Also Texas should be selling.

And in a really odd recommendation, the first place Mariners should seriously consider it. They won’t, of course. But they’ve already squandered their big lead and just cannot score runs ever. And their superstar who was having a bad year is not out. Clearly not their year…

The competition is what drives up the price point.

I'm still predicting Texas will not be selling. They've won 10 of 14, they're only 3 back in the division and they have deGrom and Mahle returning soon.

That’s reasonable….

Hey, what kind of response is that?

A reasonable one? Do we need to make a debate out of it?

Ok, fine. Your response was unreasonable! In fact, I hope Texas sells off not only deGrom and Mahle, but also Eovaldi and San Antonio and then starts to mess with Texas!

@BOSSportsGordo

Triston Casas is taking full BP and could begin a rehab assignment by the end of the week, Craig Breslow said on @TheGregHillShow
