I was shocked at the uproar it caused this time. Ryan Zeferjahn was drafted a full round before and has pitched the while, and I don’t think his selection would cause nearly this much uproar…

Song fell because of the naval commitment

No question at all about that one. The hype that came along with Song and what we thought he could be was great.

But how far?

Hec wasn’ta first rounder on any mock drafts. MLB.com said at the time he was a 2nd or 3rd round pick, but expected to fall. That puts him exactly where Zeferjahn is…

SoxProspects says:

Was regarded as a potential late-first/early-second-round talent but for his service requirement as a pending graduate of the Naval Academy.

sure a good thing Bloom didn't waste a prospect on a SP at the deadline

We got destroyed by the Blue Jays!

Naaah Bloom doesn’t care about improving the big club when he can just hoard more prospects!

Now that we’re playing the big boys we are getting dunked on and the lack of reinforcements is glaring!!

When I was on the JFK they used to play over the loudspeaker everyday sweepers, sweepers man your brooms, and that’s exactly what the Jays did to the Red Sox, and Chaim Bloom. This was a well deserved sweep too. On the biggest series of the year, which they all are now against a Div rival ahead of you in the standings who you are fighting against to get into the postseason you throw out there a couple of openers, and some ham, and eggers after that. A job well done, and a sweep well deserved. Imagine that one of the posters on here feeling giddy after the Red Sox were winning a few games wanted to play the Yankees, and Jays again. Well you got the Jays, and what did you do with them? Don’t worry though to some on here better days are coming, and we’re building for the future when everything will be just AWESOME. The future may turn out to be bright, but then again it may not, and then in the meantime you waisted many years trying to get there. In the Globe today it said the Red Sox were once a proud franchise with the key word being ONCE, and now they are just playing out the string. SAD, but true. Edited by Old Red

They got smoked because of how the team was constructed on April 1, not because of the trade deadline. Trading for a 3rd starter wasn't winning them this series.

You’re right what’s the sense in even trying especially if it means trading away any of those precious prospects. At the beginning of the season the starting pitching was so good that Sale didn’t even pitch the opener, because Cora wanted him to watch, and enjoy his birthday, and take the pressure off him, and that tired old arm. Worked out well.

Berrios

Those are the facts and the facts are undisputed

You wouldn't know a fact if it jumped out of your decaff coffee and slapped you in the face.

That's right....I bet you drink decaf coffee.

1. The Berrios-Duran trade rumors existed nowhere on this board. I know this because I made them up.

2. Berrios’ contract at the time expired 2 years ago while Duran has 4 years left

3. Duran is better than Berrios. And markedly cheaper

4. If I sucked at any activity as badly as you suck at trolling, I would quit it immediately and destroy all evidence of my participation…

Why would the Jays trade Berrios when they are in the WC running? Is that what he's flipping out about?

Story felt it was necessary for him to finish his minor league assignment...pussy. Absolute waste of money.

Yes, because he was so great at the beginning of last year after not having a Spring Training (596 OPS in APR). Those AB's to get his timing down need to be had at AAA. If he's not ready, he's not ready. It's not about his health, but about him being "baseball ready." A 600 OPS Story isn't winning the Jays series.

The trade suggestion in question was made over a year ago.

Still, the Jays are ADDING to their roster, not taking away? Thinking they'd dump Berrios at his lowest value is kind of silly.

Two years ago. 2021 deadline and I believe the deal Berrios was on expired either after that year or 2022 before Toronto extended him for far too much…

Yes, but it's okay to play a .145 hitter dropped to minors immediately, or throw a s***** Llorens just because he was "acquired"...but hey let's have Story who may have actually helped in this series--a short fence, a fly ball hitter to left....yes, let's get him 100 percent....you know after the Sox are about to be eliminated from WC competition. Good job.

I hate posting here...why? Apologists board for Chaim by too many posters who basically are accepting of the Sox way of doing things.

You are right about one thing about the Bloom supporters accepting the way Bloom is doing things as long as the team is good in 2030.

I’m not looking for much from Story anyway. He hasn’t played SS for 2 years, and once again Chang had solidified the D at SS, so I don’t know how much you’ll gain there. As with the bat that should be an improvement, but outside of a few hot flashes with the bat last year Story Land was closed more than it was opened.

Don't worry, there's plenty of Bloom bashing here too. This is page 732 of the Fire Bloom thread, after all.

How many hundreds of pages more before we can finally close this damn thread.

What comes first, the end of Fire Bloom or the start of Sell, John Henry!?

"Oh, but he's the greatest owner in the history of my lifetime..." (like, has any poster ever not had a relationship that was once great, maybe even for years, that ended on bad terms)

Story told management he wasn't ready and that he wanted to use as much time as he was allowed to use. He's forced to come back on Wednesday per the rules.

Is this a complaint about Urias? He had 4 hits in the series and looked ok. Looked much better than Arroyo/Reyes/Valdez. He was a 2 fWAR guy the previous 2 years. He can be an MLB starting player until the young guys are ready.

Having anything good to say is being a "Bloom apologist" even though most of us wouldn't grade him higher than a C and wouldn't be upset if he was fired. Ok.
