  1. Feels like an F right now because of the vast Overpays but the effects of these moves cannot fully be judged until the season is over. I am content to wait until the season is over for Breslow to be fired. I hope we still make the playoffs obviously. We're 10 games over .500 which is a good place to be. I'm just feeling these moves were desperate.
  2. Mead deal was an overpay. As soon as the trade happens, he gets instantly injured. We lost a 24 year old left handed potential top 3 rotation pitcher for a dude that doesn't help us this year and only last year batted sub .700 OPS. If he comes back and doesn't bounce back to .800 OPS+ form we traded a young pitching star for a lemon. Massive overpay by Breslow again. The medicals for Rutschman are also concerning. Don't worry you won't be the only one cursing Breslow's name if this deal turns sour. He mortgaged the Red Sox future and our top prospects for an injured catcher. We can only hope Rutschman returns to form, otherwise this will be another Huge L for Breslow. To me this trade STINKS of desperation. It feels like the move of a man who was informed he would be FIRED if he didn't make the playoffs this year. Breslow overpaid for Rutschman as well as the left handed reliever Miller. He has expended the top Red Sox prospects in the farm system to save his own hide. I hope he still gets fired. He does not seem like the right man for the job.
  3. It's not even a rumor Meade has been HURT on his 1st day with the Red Sox. It is confirmed news. He broke his wrist and has been put on the IL. A trade that was already questionable to give away promising 24 year old left handed starter in Connelly Early has been torpedoed with this one injury. I already questioned this trade at the time it was announced. This does not make it look any better for Breslow who keeps getting bamboozled and mishandling Red Sox talent and assets. Get him OUT ASAP!
  4. You're willing to give up on Roman Anthony so quickly? He was the #2 ranked prospect in all of Baseball just last year. Feels a bit hasty.
  5. Why would the Nats ever consider trading Abrams though? He's a proven star at SS, one of the most premium positions. Arias won't be ready until 2027 at the earliest. If we traded Early + Arias for Abrams then I would understand. But I feel like Early for Meade is just a panic trade. Giving up a left-handed top 3 rotation arm is overpay.
  6. Arias is so close, I don't see a good reason to give up any major pieces just for a rental SS. Tsung-che cheng was not a good hitter but adequate defensively. Maybe just pick up a LHP for the bullpen and call it a day. Giving up Early for Meade is already a steep price to give.
  7. Did you predict the Red Sox trading Early with that thread title? You should run a prediction service if that's true!
  8. You're acting like OPS is a critical stat for catcher prospects and that Salas isn't considered a top 3 MLB catcher prospect right now. This argument is disingenuous and a blind defense for Breslow. Duran is stinking up the joint and we missed a golden opportunity to trade him for assets when Breslow clearly KNEW we had an outfield logjam.
  9. Breslow got FLEECED again! He traded a 24 year old left handed potential top 3 starter in Early with a career 126 ERA+ for a 25 year old infield bat in Meade who just had his first nice season .852 and had a .620 OPS last year. What happens if Meade regresses? We keep catching Ls in trades. If this move backfires we absolutely need to FIRE Breslow incompetent ass in the offseason.
  10. Anyone remember the Red Sox turning down this trade offer for Duran last year? We would have received Dylan Cease, Ethan Salas, and a 2nd prospect. Breslow should have been fired then. His failure to move Duran with a logjammed outfield is criminal negligence. Now Duran is so bad nobody will offer anything of value for him. .194 BA .599 OPS 69 OPS+. Dylan Cease this year: 2.79 ERA 90.1 IP 137 K 163 ERA+ 2.26 FIP and 1.185 WHIP. Those numbers are pretty darn good. He would have been a good arm to have in place when we lost Early to injury. Again, someone explain to me why Breslow still has a job OR why he shouldn't be fired as soon as this season is up?
  11. Kahnle was terrible. No big loss. Maybe Gamboa will click this time around. Every time I read the Red Sox traded away a pitcher now I have to brace myself and think how badly did we get fleeced this time? It would be nice to win some trades but I just keep seeing losses piling up. I just don't see how Breslow still has his job.
  12. Campbell deal is looking terrible because he adds ZERO to the ML roster and we're on the hook for 8 years. I don't think we should conflate the two players because they are pretty much unrelated. Campbell if he ever makes it back to the majors will be an OF. They are not comparable. What's done is done. Breslow did a poor job of roster construction for this season and as a result the Red Sox suffered for it. The season is toast. We just need to be smart sellers at the deadline and see who we can get to help fill our gaping holes at the next offseason.
  13. Red Sox just traded for Brett Harris. He has a career OPS under .600. Our infield is officially saved. Breslow strikes again! Man, this move is underwhelming. What's next?
  14. The problem with Campbell is that he has regressed. I'm just hoping the Red Sox did not destroy him by promoting him too early. He looked like a world beater in the minor leagues averaging around .900 OPS at age 22. At age 23 he fell back to sub .700 OPS. At age 24 in Worcester he stayed at sub .700 OPS. I'm not sure if moving him to the outfield has messed with his head but the brass has decided his feature is blocked in the infield so they had him change positions to an outfield role.
  15. Red Sox will be sellers at the deadline and they should be. We're dead last in the division and this looks like a lost season. I believe the key is to get back some cost controlled pieces who will soon be ready for major league duty. It's just really shameful that we flipped Kyle Harrison for an absolute bust acquisition like Durbin. At just 24 he looks to be a top 3 rotation pitcher already with Ace upside. 8-1 record 72 IP 87 K vs only 18 BB, 1.056 WHIP, and 166 ERA+ is elite.
