  1. From Globe, yikes The offense has reached levels of futility unseen since the dead-ball era. The Sox have scored just 22 runs in their last 12 home games, tied for the fewest over any 12-game home stretch in a single season in Fenway Park history and the lowest since 1917.
  2. Well, Nomar defense did same in 2004
  3. Story was great last year for once, Bregman was awesome enough and awesome enough in some clutch ABs, or why he is such a great performer, or why he was signed...The Sox had platoon infielders who suddenly performed in the Yanks series...they had Refsnyder during the reg season and he was pretty much most consistent hitter, and they had Romy who also hit lefties...this is a completely different team offensively in so many ways...Anthony was pretty great til he got hurt (sounds like the Poitras thing all over again in a B's comparison). This is not just standing pat, it's they were asking to be a banjo team and they got it. No power, and now not even any OBP to speak of.
  4. can Nostradamus hit a baseball? Sign him up.
  5. inefficiency is like saying play responsible 200-foot hockey and don't make mistakes and don't take chances...that resulted in: 1 goal, 1 goal, 1 goal, 1 goal...last 240 regulation minutes. Be afraid, be very afraid!
  6. Red is right...trying to compare this Banjo hitting, chi-chi sox like group to any of the Sox teams of the last 50 years is insulting to the lat 50 BoSox teams...Take all the analytics out of it, and it still comes down to offense. No offense, you lose. That's it...simple as that..bad team, no power, no runs. Breslow wanted this, he's got it. And he will be fired soon, I believe that.
  7. The way the Globe has portrayed some stories is laughable...The one about look how great the rotation is that was 8-6 (8-6 is great?) in the last 14 and that's 4th best ERA in that time...ummm, they are an under .500 team that can't hit it 200 feet let alone 385...this is awful. No spin shows you also how boring they are to watch. The young kids who hope to be Anthony fans or Durbin or the future, I feel sorry for them.
  8. It was exciting except you are supposed to build on it...so first you don't re-sign Bregman, who clearly helped that dugout. You refuse to move on from Yoshida (albeit did well in his few ABs v. Yanks) and instead decide let's have 5 OF..as much as I didn't think Refsnyder was all that, he at least hit lefty pitching well and was better suited for platooning than a Yoshida or Duran. Then sure you get Contreras, but really don't want any big bopper...they set them up to have crappy offense. Declaring Durbin as a 3B, putting kids in awkward spots to be regulars...bad team and expecting better D and pitching to carry you is what killed the B's too--no offense despite Vezina goaltending. No offense is no offense. It kills you and even the Pats had no offense in AFC title and Super Bowl. Without the offense, forget winning.
  9. I have been upset at 2 non-re signs in different eras...one was not re-upping Hall of Famer Adrian Beltre after he had a great year in the bridge season or whatever that was back then...the other Schwarber....I couldn't fathom how you see a guy who loves Fenway, bombs the ball in Fenway a la Ortiz or better to RF and then don't want him back....this is a pathetic franchise but that stat above is about all you need to know about Breslow and the staff...yeah fire Cora and 5 other coaches because that's the "problem"...try again, no offense. You can have all the defense and pitching and if you can't score runs, you're screwed
  10. The Sox have adopted the Bruins 200-foot game philosophy...that's about as far as they hit the ball...200 feet. They are also defense first like the B's.
  11. Hey haven't been here in a while, I'm excited about the Sox, we got Devers, Betts, Bregman, a workhorse in Crochet, a phenom in Bello, the best closer in baseball, then we got Anthony. It's exciting times around here. Cora probably the best player's manager out there. Go Sox!
  12. You are in the postseason, as a player or a pitcher, you're mindthought has got to be, I'm ready at a moment's notice..if you are worried about injury or arm sore, etc, then don't play the game.
  13. no offense, but other than Romy (who tapped out a few times) and Refsnyder, who exactly does hit lefties on Sox??
  14. Are we really complaining or upset about decision making by Sox leaders at this point??? It's all Henry's master plan...and damn if I'm going to question anything anymore.
  15. so what? Honestly, they trotted out the weakest lineup in Sox playoff history on Tuesday and it still resulted in a win. So if a computer spits out the lineup and Breslow can trade Devers and Breslow can stay quiet at trade deadline and guys like Sogard and Eaton and Yoshida can have key ABs...so be it.
