Everything that could go wrong to Sox depth went wrong...Yoshida injured done, Anthony's nagging injuries, Story missed most of season, Mead acquired has 1 at bat and done, Gasper is OPS machine naturally injured can't be in postseason, White doing great, injured done, Durbin played with a pinky finger that ultimately affected him later. Duran was a hot mess at plate all year, Monasterio was a big part of 32-5 and turns into a pumpkin to the point they won't play him over the awful IKF, Abreu and Raffy were a power show, hit show then Raffy gets hurt comes back as much, Abreu turns back into mush after power streak, Rogers does well in short few games, dumped only to see the All-Star Ruschman deal with his injuries that affected him at plate and missed some games, Jones is like a revelation during 32-5 then reverts to the absolute s***** hitter he is (two epically bad ABs as a leadoff in an elimination game), Romy injured and never available. Contreras missed a good portion of games due to his own injuries/craziness---and yet the Sox played and won without him and didn't really do well when he was in the lineup--not his fault--but it was weird how the games he missed, the Sox won and won and won, Romy injured not available. Really the only constant without injury was Sogard, who was great in his role and terrific defender mostly at 2b. .. Factor in some of the worst managing in Sox playoff history--bizarro pulls for no reason in two 1-0 games. Bat Story 8th, hit Jones 1st. The league best Bullpen was batting practice in postseason, Bennett never pitches, but Crochet does. Guerrero, Slaten both injured done. This team was just one hot mess from a position player standpoint and too many hurdles to overcome. Still a bad team before 32-5, a bad team after. That is talent-based.

Contreras and Chapman were perhaps their 2 best players..and both were great tonight. So there's that.

it was a bizarre season, so bad for most of it...so wildly successful in 37 game stretch...crazy

Dewey had a tremendous career, offensively and of course defensively...loved his stance and his arm

I had a great Lynn story but not going to tell it here. He had a major impact on a kid and that kid went on to be a great pro player--not in baseball.

That would be more hits than a lot of the Sox last month.

I realize Duran has been terrible all season, a given...but choosing Jones to bat 3 times in the leadoff spot, batting Story 8th, this was just awful managing. Duran played v lefties during the 32-5 run...he never sat in that streak or maybe once or twice and that's it

So many stories of how some great players ended up with certain teams because of parents dislike of a scout or how they were being negotiated...insane how fate changed on stuff like that.

It was inept lineup, inept pull of Gray, inept use of Miller again, inept not pinch hitting for Jones by the 3rd at bat, leaving in Whitlock to die, it was epic bad agreed. But they were not going to win with 2 runs either.
