Jacko was as quiet as a Church mouse when the Yankees sucked for a few years. That just goes to prove my theory that Yankee fans are good losers, but obnoxious winners. The Yankees are on the upswing now, so we should expect Jacko and other Yankee fans to become more and more obnoxious.

Jackso is living proof that your theory is correct alright.

These are all itty bitty sample sizes ultimately. The question is does the can Devers figure his stuff out at the big league level. Given his history - where he HAS figured stuff out each place he has been at - it makes more sense to trust him than not.

Moreover, sending him down would allow him to get more defensive reps which he needs to get better.

But it would also deprive him of seeing a steady diet of MLB pitching. This can only be had in MLB.

Stay the course unless he falls off a cliff into sub-Mendoza land and stays there.

The Yankees are on the upswing now, so we should expect Jacko and other Yankee fans to become more and more obnoxious. Red Sox fans are good winners, but terrible losers. When we win, we treat the losers with magnanimity, and we foolishly expect to be treated the same way when we lose. I have warned about this many times. Yankee fans need to stepped on and trashed while they are losing (even when their team is irrelevant). We have been far too nice to them.

Or, you know, you can just continue to show class when you win and pay no attention to what a Yankee fan has to say on other occasions.

My issue with Devers is that he very little patience at the plate at the moment. He's trying too hard and he's looking to hit everything 500 feet.

It is easier to do that if you don't live among Yankee fans and live in a Red Sox cocoon. I don't.

I will be subjected to the same joy in just over a weeks time as I'm moving to Brooklyn to live for a year.

I'll just ignore them if they can't control themselves. I feel sorry for them in some ways, they can't help it. Nobody really likes a Yankee fan. I mean, I get the impression, there are times they don't like each other. You can see them cast a sideways glance at each other and think..."you're a f***wit".

Poor buggers.

Never feel sorry for them. And that sideways glance is not for other Yankee fans. It is for everyone.

Where is that Mendoza line? I think if a player can't at least hit his weight, then he isn't a ML ball player. For Devers probably 215. Devers is headed in that direction. Devers takes a homerun cut on every pitch and is not selective. Bad combination. Being on a ML roster does expose him to more quality pitching and also exposes him to high quality hitters and maybe he can learn from how they approach ABs

I do credit Yankee fans for booing their former mayor.

there is merit in sending him down - but if you want to do it for a week or two to have him come right back, that's fine. a mental health break or somesuch.

Agreed.

The team is winning. No need to make any big changes.

Demoting or benching Devers would mean playing both Nunez and Holt full time. While both are excellent party time role players, there is no need to force both into a full time role because a kid is preventing this team from having an even better best record in the majors. ...

Part of the problem with NYY fandom is that a s*** ton of people who grow up in NYC as Yankees fans end up leaving NYC when they grow up. This migration happens in all cities but especially NYC. It's just how it goes. I'll probably be out of NYC within the next couple of years myself. We get replaced by people from all of over the country/world who don't know s*** about the team, but just become Yankees fans by default. I would say that explains the majority of fairweather fans who only sprout up when the team is doing well. And also how there are so many displaced Yankees fans around the country.

Brooklyn is a haven for hipsters, noobie fans, and the dreaded hipster Yankee fan. Enjoy your stay!

I don't have the history with the OP you guys do so I'll just say I'm a Sox fan who has no problem discussing just how disappointing his season has been and what it has meant. Having the best record in baseball in May does not mean you have no problems and 3rd base is a big problem right now. Teams will simply pitch around JD to get to Devers.

Similar sentiments Yaz Fan. There seems to be an element that wants their rose colored glasses polished daily.

Devers is likely showing the signs of a very young player who was rushed to the majors and is in over his head. He seems overmatched most nights and has no plate discipline or concept of how the pitchers are working him. Different than JBJr who should have enough experience by now to know how to bunt and to swing effectively as a contact #8 or #9 hitter/defensive specialist.

On a positive note, thanks for signing JDM who is actually filling the Ortiz gap of 2017.

Who's got rose colored glasses about Devers?

The complaints about this thread were because it was started by a Yankee fan. And as I pointed out to him, he never starts threads like this about Yankee players.

I'm not sure it come off as I intended but my post was very much tongue in cheek and just messing around. I really don't care about any sport enough to dislike somebody because of a team they support. And no amount of gloating either way bothers me at all, so it's all good. I'm actually looking forward to getting to know some Yankee fans. I like joking around with other fans but I just don't take any game seriously enough to care past that.

Yeah the hipster thing worries me...i could do without it after living in hipster central in London. That said I do have a bitching beard so I'll fit in at least.

Regarding Yankee fans and their intrusion on a Red Sox site, it's like arguing with an idiot, you will get frustrated, never have your argument understood, and you'll be covered in spittle. Agree they should stay on Bronx related sites.

LOL Post of the day!

I keep saying that the reason Yankees fans hang out on Red Sox boards is because who the heck wants to hang out on a Yankees board?

We, OTOH, are very cool.

Aaron Judge with 5 k’s in tonight’s game. I don’t think Rafi has accomplished this feat yet. Perhaps Jackson will be starting the judge hit piece thread momentarily?..?

8 Ks out of his 9 outs between the 2 games.

Rafael Devers' career high in strikeouts in one game is three, accomplished four times:

Obviously they brought up Judge too soon, and they may as well just DFA him, as after last night's 8Ks, his value is way too low to get anything for him in a trade.

If the concern is teams pitching around Martinez to get to Devers, that can easily be handled by keeping them far enough apart in the lineup.

As for Devers, young player? Sure? Rushed? Sure. Best option at thrid in the organization? Yes. And if he needs o make adjustments, he isn't going to learn to hit MLB pitching anywhere but MLB.

We've seen him hit. He just needs to adjust like every player before him has had to.
