  1. No team knew what Schlittler would become, not even the Yankees. He had a 90 MPH fastball at the time he was drafted. Scouting reports had his ceiling as a swingman/long reliever if everything worked out. But he put on some muscle and went from a skinny string bean to a lanky celery stalk (and also tweaked his delivery), and gained 10mph on his fastball over a couple of seasons. Nobody could've predicted that.
  2. If you have any lefty starters this series then you're looking pretty good. With both Judge and Stanton on the IL, our next best right handed hitter is... Paul Goldschmidt? Jose Caballero?
  3. The Sox put too much faith in their young hitters this season and it has backfired. Anthony was expected to come up and be a star right away but instead he has been injured and regressed from how he looked last season. Abreu has been solid, but I'm sure you all were expecting more than 6 HRs from him at this point in the season. Mayer/Durbin/Rafaela were glove first guys with offensive upside, but so far only Rafaela seems to be unlocking his talents while Mayer/Durbin have slash lines that make your eyes water. Narvaez has not looked good, and considering he was never a touted hitting prospect one has to wonder if last year was a bit fluky. Add in steep declines from Story (washed) and Duran (who I still think will turn things around), and you get a bottom of the barrel offense.
  4. Why don't they just move the Green Monster to right field, are they stupid????
  5. Can you guys win a damn game to keep the Rays off of our ass??? Geez..
  6. Tough break for JD since he was finally getting some consistent playing time in the big leagues. No concussion at least, but sprained shoulder so he will probably be out all month. Now Spencer Jones gets to show what he can do. Massive power but also massive K rates. Good fielder and good speed. Best case scenario for him is probably a Joey Gallo type of career. More likely to be a good fielding 4th outfielder who can hit some dingers.
  7. Last season everyone thought the Yanks got fleeced when Narvaez was hitting well and Elmer Rodriguez was still in the minors. Well ER is making his big league debut for the Yanks this afternoon, so by end of this season we should be able to weigh the outcome of this trade a little better.
  8. Fortunately I don't get that station in NYC. Watching these two games, I assume your lack of offense has been the biggest issue this year. Looking at your lineup, you don't have any star hitter but I see four players who will probably end up above average [comfortably above 100 wrc] (Anthony, Duran, Abreu, Contreras), three who should be around average (Story, Yoshida, Rafaela), and three youngsters who are a bit of an unknown at this point (Narvaez, Mayer, Durbin). I'm certainly grateful for your early hitting struggles but I don't foresee this group hitting this poorly forever. My guess is that the Sox finish somewhere between 10-15th offensively by end of the year.
  9. How to fix 2026 Red Sox? Have you tried turning them off and on again?
  10. Let's hope the lame play continues while we're in town! The first baseball game I have distinct memory of attending is the one where Pedro gave up a bomb to Chili Davis in the first inning, and then threw a no hitter the rest of the game. That sealed my hate for the Sox for the next 30 years.
  11. Good pitching matchup today (at least on paper). How have you all been liking Suarez so far?
