I think last season's wild card series proved that anything can happen in a short series like this, especially between two teams that know each other so well. Unless Gray implodes I'm expecting this to go to a game 3, because what's a Yankees/Red Sox series without some agonizing tension??

As bad as it is to hear on TV, it's twice as bad in person. The amount of sound and music clips they play in between pitches & ABs is insane, and they are loud as hell.

Nothing is more nerve wracking than Yanks-Sox playoff baseball. Let the butt clenching commence.

Ah I see, so it's a conspiracy. What about the people in NY who are Mets fans and hate the Yanks? Or do they only hire Yankee fans to run the replay reviews?

Not sure I follow considering that the Yanks tied for the best record in the AL last season and had to play in the wild card, and it looks like they will have to play in the wild card again this season while having the 2nd best record in the AL.

I think the biggest travesty is that there is no reseeding in the MLB playoffs. Each half of the bracket is set at the start of the playoffs, which means that one of the AL West & Central winners and the worst wildcard team is guaranteed a spot on the ALCS.

I hope GeorgE6 doesn't become his new nickname.

The Yankees on defense:

For what it's worth, the Red Sox have the 6th best run differential in the AL. Their record is terrible, but they should be only below average!

Just read a stat that the Sox are 0-30 when trailing by 3 runs or more at any point in a game. I knew you guys were sucking, but I didn't realize you guys were sucking THIS badly.

Looks pretty nice once you dig into some of the stats, I like the sliders. I don't use baseball stat sites too often so I'm probably not the best demographic to review this. However to improve on something already so widely used such as Baseball Reference (or offer an alternative to them) you probably need to incorporate something they don't have. Would be cool if you could ask a question on the site (ex: what is Wilyer Abreu's slash line since May 20th?) and it would look up the answer using all of the underlying data.

No team knew what Schlittler would become, not even the Yankees. He had a 90 MPH fastball at the time he was drafted. Scouting reports had his ceiling as a swingman/long reliever if everything worked out. But he put on some muscle and went from a skinny string bean to a lanky celery stalk (and also tweaked his delivery), and gained 10mph on his fastball over a couple of seasons. Nobody could've predicted that.

If you have any lefty starters this series then you're looking pretty good. With both Judge and Stanton on the IL, our next best right handed hitter is... Paul Goldschmidt? Jose Caballero?

The Sox put too much faith in their young hitters this season and it has backfired. Anthony was expected to come up and be a star right away but instead he has been injured and regressed from how he looked last season. Abreu has been solid, but I'm sure you all were expecting more than 6 HRs from him at this point in the season. Mayer/Durbin/Rafaela were glove first guys with offensive upside, but so far only Rafaela seems to be unlocking his talents while Mayer/Durbin have slash lines that make your eyes water. Narvaez has not looked good, and considering he was never a touted hitting prospect one has to wonder if last year was a bit fluky. Add in steep declines from Story (washed) and Duran (who I still think will turn things around), and you get a bottom of the barrel offense.

Why don't they just move the Green Monster to right field, are they stupid????
