The future is now. Whatever the hell that means.

There is always a future out there.  The only time you lose the future is by mortgaging it for the present.

Mead is our 2027 2B.

He's good enough to be, but he could also DH, play 1B when Willson leaves or maybe even play LF.

We could add a rental bat at 2B or SS and even a multi year middle infielder, but I'd prefer Catcher. LF could work, too and a rental should be all we need there.

If someone wanted a one-year 2B or SS, I wouldn't say no.  But all the thoughts about acquiring a SS, so that they can move him to 2b, because they aren't really a SS, doesn't strike me as intuitive.

It's about getting a known bat.

If we are overpaying because the guy plays SS poorly, then say no. If the bat is still worth it, say yes.

I certainly see the complications with the SS plan, but our SS and 2B slots have been awful for years. I'm not sold on a one month surge, just yet.

Let's get a catcher and shut me up.

LF/DH just as likely as 2b IMO. That’s if we DFA Story. If we don’t dFA story doubt Mead plays any infield

Good arm.

Great glove.

Decent speed.

Decent power.

Batting for average is the one he needs to prove. (.285+ is decent, but can he keep it up?)

If he keeps working in his plate discipline, he will hit for contact consistently.

Kinda makes sense. I can't see Story as a back-up or DH.

He's nearly at .290. That is pretty amazing.

He's never been over .250 by season's end in the bigs.

His 15 Hrs are impressive, too.

You'd think leading the league in doubles would keep his HRs down. He has 54 XBHs and it's early August!

He's on pace to join the 20 HR and 20 SB club.

He's done all this without improving his K rate or BB rate this year.

K%: 26.4> 19.9> 20.2 (but it's close)

B%: 2.6>4.8>4.1 (but when your BA goes .246>.249>.289, who cares?)

His BAbip is near .340, so maybe he'll come down a bit, but I'm not so sure "working on discipline" is the right idea with a fluky guy like Ceddanne.

Just do your thing!

The future is tomorrow, and tomorrow is no better time to go for it. There will most likely not be a better time where the league is wide open for the taking. Also next year might not even be there. Be in it to win it.

We are 6 games cleared of in the loss column in the wild card race. Impressive as hell.

I'm going to need to come up with egg on my face apology for Yoshida but I'm very willing to do it. "Son, I was wrong about you."

Of course Fred's next reason to fire Breslow will be that he didn't do enough to improve the team at the deadline.

I think he still wants to sell, but he's been quiet about it for a couple weeks.

Red is the guy who thinks we should unload suspects for proven stars every deadline- try to go all out every year!

While at the same time claiming they should've been sellers.

You guys are more worried about other posters than the team you should be rooting for. 🤷‍♂️

No game today.  What'll we do for entertainment?  ghfstca.
