Bernie Carbo disliked Zim intensely.

Lee and Carbo were two members of the Loyal Order of the Buffalo Heads, who’s sole purpose was to mock Zimmer and his decisions.  There were 3 or 4 other guys as well.  The group lasted maybe 2 years with all of them traded or otherwise moved from the club.

Stay out, Jerk.

No thanks

I was going to join in to your name calling contest but decided that I’m better than that. You should try to be too. Childish name calling really has no place here.

Jim Willoughby was another one..

Contreras needs to be put on tranquilizers.

Two nights in a row he hurts his team by not being on the field.  I understand why he is emotional, I just don’t need to see it all the time.  Two nights ago he pounds one out big time.  After the way he carried on after the hit, what do you think Pedro or Gibson would have done the next time he came to the plate? Shut up and play the game.

Yeah that act was amusing maybe the first time.   He can't even play his own brother without calling out the rest of the team.

Ya, well, I'm on Chad Tracy's side complaining the umps didn't eject the instigator: the racist pitcher who called a man who plays for the Red Sox -- the team I root for -- "boy."

I expected to find everyone on Contreras' side, but Talk Sox has the constant ability to bewilder.

Agreed.  But  that a-hole will wake up as a racist s*** tomorrow no matter what happens.

As for Contreras, every manager has to be thinking "Hmm.  You mean I can get my opponent's best hitter tossed by throwing inside and maybe saying something to him? ...Hell.  Go for it."

Well said. If he’s not trying to fight someone he’s smashing something in the dugout.

The pitcher crossed the line calling him Boy, but most likely the Con Man would have acted the same way if the pitcher had just said SIT Down. Flip the bat, and these things will happen.

Yaz reportedly begged Zimmer to start Lee instead of Sprowl in a key Yankee series, but Zimmer’s hatred for Lee prevailed.

Zimmer reportedly pulled a bunch of clippings out of his desk with Lee calling him a gerbil.  Yaz was dumbfounded.

Didn't know any of this, but I've always hated Zimmer.  Is there a book about all that went on?

Kind of feels like a grade A setup of contreras, which is why I intentionally withdrew my like on A700 hitters post (no offense to A700). We know Contreras had a hot-head rep even before coming here.  So he has that working against him.  He has ejection in prior night working against him (which also appears dubious btw).

And Cavatalli pasta or whatever, is playing the "we're both competitors and words were said. I think he only reacted like that because of whats going on in Venezuela" card (note the intentional omission of the specific words that were said).  Fox News in their headline, left out the word "boy" in their headline.  Contreras ejected after reacting for being told to sit down.

A devastating earthquake in Venezuela, add that to the list of things currently being weaponized against Contreras.  I get how this looks like an emotional player , having an emotional reaction, when he has something else going on (the grief over the earthquake).

But this all smells very gross.  And my wish is not that Contreras didnt calm down , and Im not mad at him for "not staying in the game for his teammates".  Im just mad he didnt get to land any real punches at Cavatalli.

He's got to find a way to reel in his emotions, as difficult for him as it is right now. He is our best hitter. Still, someone on the Nats should get drilled for Cavatalli taking advantage of the situation. That was low.
