Then you get to lose the deadline because you traded for nobodies and lose the next season because you traded those same "great young players" for nothing. 🤔

So you prefer to cut out the middleman and trade for mediocre non-factor players right there at the deadline?

Only way to appease the disgruntled fanbase is to play our young guys. I really don't give a damn how bad we finish, makes no difference to me if we're current 13.5 games back or 25 games back.

We suck.

Why do we waste playing opportunity on Yoshida? For that matter, Story when he comes back? Are they going to play key roles in 2027? I definitely wouldn't count on it. I don't want to watch them.

We at least have Tolle and Early to go with veterans Crochet and Suarez. We can get Sonny Gray back for $30M, probably too much money for JH. It would be great if we can get an almost ready starting arm for say Chapman and Sonny Gray. Those two would be very valuable for a team trying to 'go for it'

I would also love to see Arias in September if not earlier? What's the damage? I assume he has major league skills to play short. He's not burning a team controlled service time at this point. Give us a peek at his potential. We have nothing to lose. I rather find out that a player is overrated sooner rather than later.

Mr. Ivy leaguer Bres, please don't insult my intelligence by making several nonsense lateral moves. And quit signing injured players. Whatever happened to he may return in September 2025 Patrick Sandoval? Another freaking $18.5M thrown away by Breslow. I'd rather you placed the bet on the 'red' at the Roulette table. God, we suck.

Bring back Campbell!

Arias?  Why?  “We rushed Campbell and he wasn’t ready.  Then we rushed Mayer and the same thing!! When will the Sox learn?  Also, let’s rush Arias!”

The theory is that they wanted to hire him to run the pitching for the org, but couldn't find a CBO so decided on giving it to him. Not sure I buy it, but it's a theory.

I’d believe it. Nobody wanted the gig.

They should get prospects back.  It’s really difficult to get contributing major leaguers at the deadline, since any team you’re dealing with expects those players to stay and, well, contribute.  Cherington tried tjis in 2014, dealing Lester and Lackey and hetting back Allen Craig, Yoenis Cespedes and Joe Kelly.  Craig was just a bad contract that did nothing in Boston.  Cespedes was later flipped for Rick Porcello that off-season.  Only Kelly stuck around.  Selling off your two  best pitchers should have yielded much more.

Get prospects.  Deal them in December/January when more teams will be in position to make deals with a better variety of targets…

See I think fans are more willing to accept where they are in the rebuild process in July rather than January.
By January the hype train is leaving the station for upcoming season. Royals, Giants, Angels, Dbacks, Reds, Twins, Astros, Mets are all teams I’d identify as more likely to sell 2027 bats at deadline for prospects rather than at start of new season.

Just an Example :

1-I’d trade Jake Bennett and Marcelo Mayer for Ketel Marte.
2-  trade a bag of Cheetos for Carlos Correa now.

3- trade Otto Lopez & Sandy Alcantara for Durbin + mid prospects

4- trade Duran, Chapman, IKF, Romy Gonzalez  and Sonny Gray for prospects.

next year RS are ready to pounce with much better bats in lineup.
1. Anthony LF

2. Marte 2b

3. Correa 3b

4. WC40 1b

5. Abreu RF

6. Lopez SS

7. C Rafaela CF

8. Gaspar/ Narvaez C

9. Story/ Yoshida DH

Sp- Crochet, Suarez, Alcantara, early, Tolle, Oviedo
