Losing 2 series over a couple of weeks to the Angels is the mark of this bunch of low ability Red Sox

Unbelievably bad performance

So there you go, a 2 HR game from a .170 hitter and another 1 run loss.

Hate to concede it to Max, but it may just be the pitching.  However, they also failed to hit.  What an awful team, Breslow

Surprisingly, the defense was faultless tonight.

All 3 Angels' runs were earned. That's an improvement.

Good defense is the hallmark of a winning team .   Does hitting and pitching make a difference ? Only in an alternate universe, the Bizzaro world of Red Sox fans

Half the entire season but I am sure someone will say it is still early, not even the A-S game , plus we have all these young studs coming up to help.

You are seeing some deep level incompetence from FO through the end of the pine bench

The Sox clearly gave up the season already.  This is not up for debate.

It looked fun for a while when Toro was hitting.  But now Toro has a .556 OPS since June 9th and he’s still starting.  And so is Hamilton, who has not had an OPS as high as .625 at any point this season.

Get Campbell back.  You’re not fooling anyone at this point…

Story did have a line drive HR last night which mattered not. But he also K'ed with the bases loaded.

Tonight he pops up the first pitch from Jansen, who is predictably, semi-wild.

The problem is the HITTING.

Still trying to change the subject when I caught you in an ill informed wisecrack about Mayer.  Mayer just got his 3d hit, and has scored or driven in both Sox runs in this game.

Braves score 0 runs in 7 IP off Crochet and 3 runs in 3 innings off the bullpen.

The hitting sure wasn't great tonight, but there can be absolutely no question the bullpen blew the game.

Last night the Sox scored 5 runs and lost by 4 because the starter and bullpen both stunk

Against the 3d best pitching staff in MLB, the Giants, they scored 14 runs in 3 games.  Not too shabby.  But they lost 2 of 3 games because of the pitching staff.  And they did that without Bregman or Devers.

You can't expect to lose those two and be as good as you were before.  When Bregman returns (early July0, the Sox will have the ingredients for a good lineup.  Time will tell.  Meanwhile, I'm happy to root for the Sox who are playing now, even the pitchers.  Crochet was terrific tonight.

About your "see the ball, hit the ball."  Ted Williams had a different thought when he said there is no harder skill in any sport than trying to hit a round ball with a round bat squarely.

This team is an embarrassment...no lead is safe, no pitching performance is good enough, no offense, no defense....small market approach to winning. Bad team.

I like to see Campbell back as well, but the big question is where does he play.  On this current team, first base looks like the only option for him to be out there everyday.

I understand and agree with you about how hard it is to hit a baseball but there have been many great hitters who were “see ball hit ball” kinds of hitters.  For instance if Wade Boggs wanted to be a home run guy first hitter, what do you think 30 a year?  This team needs runners on base not big time guessers trying to knock everything out of the park.

Damn, Mr. Max, you're like the Lion in Wiz of Oz holding his tail and repeating:  "We don't need hitting; we don't we don't we don't ..."

One guy beat Boston by hitting two home runs. The Red Sox don't have a home run hitter anymore.

And don't cite the Giants that won three titles without power -- few clubs ever have starting rotations with Bumgarner, Lincecum, Cain and Zito.

Apparently, Boston's coaches can't do this, but will someone here please tell Hamilton that on a sacrifice bunt, you square early, and stop the pitch -- you don't poke at it and run, like trying to beat it out for a hit.

If you can't put one down, at least strike out instead of hitting into a double play...

Rice crossed the line when he tried to impart wisdom to a Sox prospect on hitting. Shame on him, the Sox swing for the fences philosophy has paid off gang-busters.

Just smile, wave to the cameras. Don't engage with the players!

This lineup without Bregman or Devers is a very low producing group.  I don’t even know who the guy is playing 3B.  Our lead off hitter is a journeyman platoon guy.  Our cleanup hitter is a cast off catcher from the Yankees.  The lineup is not at all threatening.
