Story did have a line drive HR last night which mattered not. But he also K'ed with the bases loaded.

Tonight he pops up the first pitch from Jansen, who is predictably, semi-wild.

The problem is the HITTING.

First game thread I've seen in a long time in which no one wants the Sox to win.

It’s for the best

No , I am critiquing you for thinking the problem is pitching. IT is hitting

Trying to change the subject?  Won't work.  You actually said that Mayer in this game demonstrated he does not know how to hit despite having a triple and a single.

It’s both

And defense

They suck in all phases of the game

Winning would only encourage them to continue doing the same old things that causes them to lose.  If you get my drift

No, i demonstrated you are an idiot. I said nothing about Mayer except he tried to outguess a very hittable pitch. You are the loser here, Max

Why do pitchers try to field their position. For the same reason  Max thinks it is the pitching that holds back the 2025 Red Sox

Nah

Max is cool. I admire his optimism though I don’t share it

As Chapman showed, except for his fielding, that pitching is the least of the Sox problems, well, except for Weissert too.

Can Chapman pitch the bottom of the 10th?

Doubt it. He threw 20 pitches last inning. I think it’s Wilson

I did publish earlier that Mayer , of all the rookies , looked the most ready to play intelligently, and he comes through. Hamilton is a marginal guy at best . He bunted last night but can't tonight.

Now you will be looking at Wilson to win this one.  Sure hope so

Weissert needs a week off.  39 appearances in 81 games is way too much for any reliever.

If 37 year old retread Justin Wilson holds ths 1 run lead with a man on second, then kudos to him.

BUT, otherwise, i agree with Max that pitching is the problem with these extra inning , one run losses.   You can only lose with a pitcher in your lineup.

Wilson grooved it.

He's pitched pretty well, all year, but we really needed him on, tonight.

Back to the one run loss mode.

So there you go, a 2 HR game from a .170 hitter and another 1 run loss.

Hate to concede it to Max, but it may just be the pitching.  However, they also failed to hit.  What an awful team, Breslow
