Anyone who thinks Thunder's streak is hokum should have stopped watching this game before the 4th inning started. We are now watching a game that defies both common and uncommon sense.

The above applies even if the Orioles win tonight.

The Orioles scored 10 runs and still lost. Thunder strikes again.

Y’all can thank me in the morning after I’ve had like 12 hours of sleep. Let’s go get #16 tomorrow

During one of the numerous pitching changes I was trying to name all 15 games I’ve seen us win in a row, but even my autistic brain couldn’t do that. I will sit down tomorrow and make a proper list. Last game we lost that I was at was in August 2022

That’s actually really impressive. The longest win streak I had was like 10 or so back when Mookie Betts used to destroy those bad Orioles teams at Camden Yards.

I’m currently on a 3 game streak with two games in Cincy and a game in Boston, but that was after a 4 game losing streak with 4 games in different cities (Baltimore, Boston, Houston and Cincy)

Luis Garcia as a Red Sox: G 7, ERA 14.09 -- but it gets worse... per 9 IP: H 18.8, HR 4.7... BA .400, OBP .415, SLG .825, OPS 1.240

(Babe Ruth's MLB career record as a batter was 1.164; as a pitcher, he allowed an OPS of .576).

How bout a new ice cream flavor: No More Garcia Por Favor

Good news last night the Red Sox won, and the bats were raking. Bad news was the pitching gets worse every day.

Which team should be more worried about their pitching---Orioles or Red Sox ? Only the one looking seriously at the playoffs.

We may get the answer to that over the next 2 games, Vegas.

Worse? Looks the same to me.

Regarding Luis Garcia, just look at the circus tent he came out of in Anaheim to question Breslow's and his team of analyzers ability to judge a pitcher . Never take an Angel.

Criswell may have been feeling the effects of the Covid, but Cora hung him out to dry , mainly due to no other options available. Maybe the starting pitchers need to do their side sessions on the actual mound for an inning or so.

The ERA does get worse every month.

Not to mention the HR are flying out of the park at an alarming rate, and mostly off sweepers, and off speed pitches.

Bailey: "Yeah, but at least they're not off s***** four-seam fastballs!"

ERA going up every month, and more HR allowed adds up to the pitching getting worse to me.

On a positive note a shout out to Masa. It's about time we all realize just what an excellent striker of the ball he is. Btw, he hustles on every play, and that can't be said about a lot of MLB players.

Absolutely, he has really been good for a while now.

.931 since June 24th (169 PAs)

6 HRs and 31 RBI comes to over 25 and 125 per 650 PAs!

His higher OPS is surprisingly fueled as much by his SLG (.517) than his OBP (.414.)

At the risk of being called a Bloom apologist (or worse) several of the moves he made that were absolutely roasted or deep fried, are looking better or slightly better, now.

Yoshida

DHam in the JBJ trade

Abreu for Vaz

Extending Ref

Not trading Duran while many of us suggested it.

Jansen signing

Wink for Beni

Wong worked out better than Dugo & Downs combined

His draft and IFA choices

Yeah, personally I think Bloom got scapegoated. He pretty much did what they hired him to do. And Breslow appears to be operating under the same tight constraints, not much has changed, especially with the damn pitching.

Developing their own pitching at the farm was never a strong point for the SOX no matter who the GM was. In the past when the SOX were a big market franchise, the FO would acquire big name pitchers thru FA or trades. So, I agree with MOON's critique of Bloom. He did a pretty good job considering the restrictions of spending big money.

Speaking of big money pitchers, the Yankems signed Rodon for 28mil/year thru 2028. Today Rodon pitched 3 innings, giving up 4 runs and throwing 85 pitches.

In his 2nd year with the Yankems Rodon's ERA was 5.06 before today's game. Last night I posted that most of the SOX BP were slugs. Rodon is what one would call a 'high-priced slug.'

Btw, his W/L record is totally misleading, which is not unusual in MLB.

As I have stated many times I was against the Bloom hiring the day it was announced, and it wasn’t so much him, but the Tampa way. I think what Bloom was criticized the most for was looking for that 3rd option in the fork in the road at trade deadline time. If Bloom was sill in Boston I think Sale would still be in Boston if the stories that he had a chance to trade Sale, and his salary, but didn’t are true. Don’t forget the UNDERDOGS either.

My question is, did JH insist on them spending on everyday players over pitching or just hand them a budget framework and let them sign who they wanted?

If the latter, then the GMs deserves a lot of criticism. They chose Story and Yoshi over pitching. They chose Devers over signing several pitchers.

Even Breslow chose to pay O'Neill over adding a moderate pitching salary. O'Neill did well, but still, when you consider we spent a net less dollar amount on the rotation as compared to 2023, then the choice of O'Neill looks questionable.

2023: $41M

$27M Sale

$10M Kluber

$4M Paxton

2024: $37M

$19M Giolito

$17M Sale

Spending O'Neill's $6M on pitching would have tipped the balance to 2024, slightly. Brez chose not to sign someone like Lorenzen over the O'Neill trade and budget addition.

$1M Criswell
