So if a CBO -let’s say Andrew Friedman - made bringing in his manager a condition of accepting the offer, Henry and Kennedy say “No. Cora is our guy and you go look elsewhere.”

I don’t think Cora has any immunity. So far all they are doing is letting him stay for the final year of his contract. Its not like they’ve extended him…

Once again your poor reading comprehension skills are showing. I think it is pretty clear that Cora is not going anywhere.

Because certainly this front office wouldn't lie to us.

I think they like Cora, and want to keep him and it's likely he'll be here next year. I put stock in those comments BUT I don't believe for one second this front office wouldn't turn on Cora if the winds change.....and they may or may not be depending on how this search plays out.

The only one who could turn on Cora, so that he wouldn’t be safe is JH.

I don’t believe There is NOTHING any clearer than Cora being safe. I think Cora was safe when Bloom got hired.

You do realize Cora was fired shortly after Bloom was hired, right?

Really? That’s all you got? He was suspended for a year, and came right back when that was up.

He was fired. Bloom couldn’t “re-hire” him upon Henry’s recommendation (your theory) if he was still employed and only suspended…

He was fired, and suspended by MLB. After his suspension was up JH hired him back through Bloom. Point? And now he has more power than he’s ever had.

A good point marred by your absolute need to be a raging ****. As I've said before, you could add a lot to the board if you could just omit the ad-hominem s*** from your posts.

Such foul language from an obvious pendejo. Your mother must be so proud!

You seem to be writing a lot of that narrative yourself…

Or I’m not reading as much into this as you.

So far, he’s been told he can stick around for his final contract year. He hasn’t been extended. That could be because they plan to promote him. Or it could be because they are hesitant to commit to him with the rest of the front office in disarray.

Your history as a conspiracy theorist doesn’t lend as much credibility as you seem to think as to what is etched in stone…

Cora being fired, and then suspended by MLB is old news as is getting rehired by the Red Sox. The fact that JH hired him back should tell you something about what JH feels about Cora. What’s new is I believe that Cora as more of a say of what’s going on, and is TOTALLY SAFE. If you feel otherwise, and want to hang out on that island your free to do so, but you probably won’t get many visitors.

So people are not only interested in the GM job but are not interested for even do an interview? lol

Speaks volumes of our dysfunctional front office man.

Also reading that they are so desperate that are even calling people that are even less qualified than Bloom? lol

Do they want a puppet or what?

Once again your limited comprehension skills make you ill suited to draw any conclusions from what others write. You are historically unable to draw the proper conclusions from a simple declarative sentence.

No one wants this job. I'll take it. What is so hard about it?

Ng is the latest high-profile candidate to eschew a chance to interview with the Red Sox, joining Phillies GM Sam Fuld, Dodgers GM Brandon Gomes, former Marlins boss and current MLB executive Michael Hill and former Rangers GM (and current Rays adviser) Jon Daniels, Twins president of baseball operations Derek Falvey, Diamondbacks GM Mike Hazen and assistant GM Amiel Sawdaye and others. Red Sox assistant GM Raquel Ferreira removed herself from the equation, as well, citing family reasons. After interviewing, former Astros GM James Click, who won a World Series in Houston a year ago, pulled himself out of the running.

We can have $67M at our disposal by trading away Pivetta, Urias and Verdugo along with Turner opting out.

CC Wong/McGuire

How to spend $67M

Pay Pivetta $8M to take up one of the openings.

We can do many things with remaining $59M.

If it was up to me, spend another $50M on two starting pitchers, split the money $30/$20 or $25/$25. Then resign Duval for the balance.

Then in 2025, another $50M will open up as Martin, Jansen and Sale will be gone along with $8M for Pivetta.

It has to be a two year plan.

If we spend $59M on 2 SP'ers and Duvall, I'm not so sure we have to wait for 2 years, especially if we trade for another top SP'er.

They may also move short time players we assume are returning, like Jansen or Martin, to free up cash. Really with no one in charge and therefore no comparable history to look at, I don’t think anything is of the table…

If the plan is for 2025, yes, but I think they are worried about letting fans know they are punting, again.

I could see not bringing Urias back and trading Dugo to free up some more cash, but $59M should be enough to get a #1/2SP, a 3SP and Duvall. Trade some prospects for a #2, and....

Why 67 million?

I don’t think trading away a 36yo closer signifies punting. Did the Dodgers punt 2022 when they traded Kimbrel?

If the new boss likes someone else for the role and figures Jansen makes sense to move for financial reasons and/or can get back a (possibly cheaper?) useful piece, I don’t think that is so ridiculous. Ditto Martin, who could be viewed as a sell high candidate.

Point being, until we have an idea who is running the show, the possibilities are limitless…

Can we get an equal or better closer for $16M?

If yes, then sure. If not, try explaining to fans, it's not a punt.

Now, if we sign Duvall, Yamamoto and Nola, while trading Jansen, then there won't be all that much bitching about Jansen.

Not sure if Kapler is a good choice, but he certainly isn’t a horrible one.

A name I’m surprised we don’t see more of us Sig Mejdal. Haven’t even heard about him turning down an interview

He’s asking for any FO or clubhouse position.

There's an opening for VP to the Assistant VP of VP Clubhouse Operations that matches locker nameplates with tackle-twill backs of uniform jerseys that just got back from the laundry room.
