As 700hitter would point out, being around the house all the time is not always the best situation when you're married.
He might end up unemployed and divorced.

Brez to the Brewers in 3 years?

Breslow just called Bloom and offered him Yoshida in trade for Sonny Gray.

Chaim thought it was an overpay, so asked to take Trevor Story, too... but for only one year... if the Sox also took Steven Matz -- as long as he could call it all off before the deadline.

Brez said he was still evaluating his front office infrastructure, and would utilize every resource to make it as painful as possible for the underdogs. But he assures all he has full support of ownership to be the overdawgs.

Eddie Romero Jr is a better fit. His dad played for the Brew Crew.

Or maybe move the Phillies to the NL Central.  It seems pretty unlikely that either of the budget-conscious Brewers or Reds would ever be able to handle DD’s methods of operation…

Jokes aside, this does probably make St. Louis the most logical landing spot if the Sox are able to deal Yoshida.  Bloom liked him before and thought he was worth that deal once upon a time, which separates him from all the other CBO’s.

It doesn’t mean he’s willing to give up Masyn Winn for Yoshida.  The Sox would still take a bad contract or two  back…

AZ could go as well.

What about a straight salary dump for a low A player and have the Cards take the whole contract?

Most posters would take Mason Lose to get rid of Masa Overpay.

The Cardinals wouldn’t make that trade if you kidnapped Bloom’s children and made it a ransom demand.

But maybe Yoshida for Willson Contreras?  Contreras’ days behind the plate are pretty much over, so it’s a swap of equally paid DHs.  Bloom didn’t sign Contreras, but he obviously did like Yoshida at one point.

BTV loves that deal for St. Louis.

I don’t think the Cardinals make that deal.  Even if Bloom still likes Yoshida, he has a budget he has to operate within, and Yoshida simply doesn’t move the needle enough to exceed it…

The Sox would be doing very well to recover more than half of Yoshida's contract, regardless of Bloom liking him.

I didn’t see it mentioned in this thread but per MLBTR, Bloom does not take over until after 2025…

The current CBO/POBO is just a lame duck. Just like in SF where Buster Posey started extending guys before he had the job, Bloom probably has the power.

Then it must be exploited.

Yoshia (3 years $55.2mill) for Nolan Arenado (3 years $74mill).  Sox improve infield defense and get their RHH bat.  Cardinals get Yoshida…

have them throw in Quinn Matthews and it's a deal.

Going out on a limb in that you missed it was not a serious proposal.  One would think the opening sentence “Then it must be exploited” would clue you in like it did everyone else.  Apparently not.

I mean, I just ended it with “Cardinals get Yoshida” with no reason! That’s a hint!

They might.  Rumor has it the Cards think he’s taking too long to climb through their system.

Note for Old Red:  this is sarcasm.  Mathews was drafted last year and this year pitched in A,A+, AA, and AAA…

i promise you, he's better than anybody the Sox have in their system.

That’s not exactly the highest praise.

He’ll be in the St. Louis rotation next year before the end of May…
