A lot of dumb and in between people have zero people skills, too.

I'm not sure one group has a higher percentage or not. Maybe it's just that we expect better from "smarter" people.

This is a discussion of Craig Breslow, Chaim Bloom and people with high IQ's, not the general rabble. A post was made about Breslow being known as the smartest player in MLB. Bloom was known for not having the greatest communications skills in the world. There could be concerns that Breslow also can't work well with others since he is a remote employee at the moment. I'm sure an opinionated and outspoken person like you would rather yell about the cashiers at Buc-ee's, but I think we should keep the conversation on track.

"Family Reasons" didn't stop Air Bud from winning the Women's World Cup. He had quintuplets at home to worry about! Maybe we need a real go getter like that. Somebody that can fetch a good player. There's no rule that says a dog can't be CBO!

I was following along, and know exactly what was said. I get the context of your statement, but felt my comment was pertinent.

I responded with a totally appropriate statement to your comment.

Your last comment was "off track" and unnecessary.

And yet my off track comment was even more pertinent than you complaining about lesser individuals not being as sociable as you would like them in your day to day life as you had already mentioned your opinionated and outspoken nature previously.

He got fired for feuding with ownership and the manager. He wanted Vaz to get more playing time down the stretch (the guy who caught a no hitter and who was just traded for) but the manager didn't feel like it. He got to the league wide GM meetings and vented his grievances publicly over winning a WS, but only being offered a one year extension and being massively underpaid. Crane then fired him.

I guess it's somewhat interesting that the Astros went through all that internal turmoil last year, including disputes between the CBO and the manager, and ended up winning the WS.

Maybe internal turmoil doesn't necessarily kill the baseball team...

Another unnecessary and off track post.

I did not know only posts higher ranked in pertinence (by you) were allowed.

I'm not aware of calling out any posters for not being sociable or as sociable than I, but your deflection is duly noted..

They seem to thrive when their backs are against the wall.

The A's and Yanks featured fistfights among teammates all through the Seventies, and still won half the World Series.

It didn't work as well when Manager Billy Martin punched out his own players.

The really interesting part of the story is that Dusty Baker put the kibosh on a trade Click had in place at last year's deadline, of Urquidy for Willson Contreras, and Click then pivoted to acquiring Vaz from us. Interesting in light of all the stuff about Cora's power with the Sox.

That was wild.

Then, Click argued that Vaz should play more, but Dusty refused.

I guess Dusty believes in CERA-related skills more than Click.

It did in 1977…

I believe the loudest portion of the turmoil happened after the WS.

I remember thinking the Yanks were toast after Martin and Jackson went after each other in the dugout.

It was after they won, I started doubting the whole "team chemistry" concept.

Another very good point by you.

Billy never made contact with Reggie, because Yogi jumped in, and Bill White pulled them apart.

But as the Twins skipper in '69, Martin decked 20-game winner Dave Boswell at a bar. Minnesota got swept by the Orioles in the LCS that year and the next, then never sniffed the postseason for another 17 seasons... before winning it all twice, while Red Sox fans punched each other.

Martin frequently joked publicly about that whole deal. If you watched “The Bronx is Burning”, it was probably (re: extremely likely) an overdramatized version of the story.

In fact it was probably (re: extremely likely) overdramatized even if you didn’t watch it…

The Dollop has a great two part podcast about Martin.

If you absolutely have to hire an egghead, Ivy League , pencil neck geek, at least hire one who knows the difference between a heater and a fan, a slider and a hoagie and a sweeper and a custodian. Breslow might be the guy.

I really don't know much about Breslow in this sort of role.

I usually say I trust the Sox brass knows what they are doing, but I'm having my doubts, these days.

So… Ryan Lavernway over Epstein?
