The Texas League is full of Home Run Friendly Ballparks, but none more so than Dr Pepper Ballpark in Frisco where Valdez hit 3 and had 22 total bases in one series which brought his SLG up 50 points.

Living in TX, I would have assumed you'd know how hitter friendly that environment is.

I'm not doubting his numbers were padded by the home park. What were his away splits in 2022?

Valdez would be the worse SS in all of baseball on day 1. I don’t even want to see the name Valdez, and then afterwards I don’t want to see the word Short Stop unless it is at least 10 words after one another.

At best, Valdez would be a platoon at 2B with Arroyo. He is not our SS.

You tell me. He was playing for the Sugar Land Space Cowboys. I'm sure you have each game scored at home. I'll wait...

I don't know how to access minor league away splits. Enlighten me, and I'll do the footwork.

No, I don't pay attention to my hometown minor league team. I didn't know Valdez played for them, until he was traded.

I don't have time to teach you today padawan. I don't believe you'd listen to me anyway.

If the name of that team is really the Sugar Land Space Cowboys, I’m a fan…

Then, simply post his away splits.

I believe numbers you post.

I believe every opinion you post is what you believe is true.

They changed from Skeeters to Space Cowboys. The stadium in about 10 mins from my house.

I've been to 2 games and a couple concerts and other events there.

From the stands, I've seen Valdez play second and short. He made all the plays and looked like a pro ballplayer on defense.

In other words, nothing like Franchy or Duran...

Regarding Wendle: he was one of the first Marlins I mentioned him in a multi-player months ago -- but not to play short. I recall Wendle as a really good third baseman for the Rays, at least whenever they faced Boston. And that's a Red Sox position potentially in need of a big leaguer soon.

Well if you like Wendle, apparently he is expendable now. It’s probably not a coincidence that days after getting interest in Wendle, the Marlins went out and spent $17mill on a player to replace (or take over for, if you prefer) him at third base. And got a guy with no third base experience!! (But they did get the guy the press thought Boston would take over Wendle.)

It’s like that seen in Moneyball when Brad Pitt acquires Juan Rincon out from under the nose of another GM whose name eludes me, just so he can make another deal involving a player or players, whose names also elude me. But yeah, that scene. Anyway, it’s like that but more expensive and with less Juan Rincon.

Or was it Ricardo Rincon?

There is now talk Rojas is on the block as Chisholm moves to SS.

I'd prefer Rojas, even if he slightly more costly.

The team would be better with a SS added and not a 2Bman.

Either way, they take back a Duran…

How about this BTV approved deal:

Dugo, Duran, Murphy & Dalbec

to SFG for

Yastrzemski (3 yrs) + Crawford (1 yr)

We have a better RF'er and a bridge SS who can play D, and might hit well again.

I think I’d rather just keep Verdugo and sign a free agent bridge SS. I like Verdugo better than Yaz, mainly because hes 5 years younger.

I'd rather have a real RF'er with 3 years of control over our 4th LF'er with 2 years of control. Age only matters, if the controllable years are the same or outside of prime. (I guess you could say Yaz's years are all outside prime, so point well taken.)

Yaz also broke out pretty late at age 28, and his production at the plate has dipped BIG the last two seasons. His OPS was under .700 last year, and he’s been unplayable against LHP.

My trade was based more on who can play RF on defense better.

I think I've made better suggestions than this one.

If the Sox move Verdugo, Ramon Laureano would be my choice for RF. And as he’s an Oakland player in his arb years, he’s definitely available…

I don’t like banking on this, but I think it’s perfectly plausible that Verdugo bounces back in 2023 both offensively and defensively

I'm fine with his offensive projection. I'm not happy with subpar D in RF.

I see Berti's D metrics in RF don't look good. I like that he can play 2B, too, making Arroyo tradable.

MRojas and Berti for Duran, Murphy, Dalbec and ____?

Arroyo doesn't have much trade value. If anything, he's DFA'able.

OAA in RF in 22 in 500 innings: -2

Arroyo could be the Red Sox starting 2B this year, and you think he’s DFA’able?

Even if we sign Andrus or trade for someone like Rojas, I think Arroyo is on the opening day 26.

I also think he has some trade value, although not much. He won't get DFA'd, IMO.

He shouldn't be this team's starting 2B. His first season in MLB was 2017. His career high in PA's is 300 mostly due to his ongoing injury issues. He is not a guy you can pencil in as a starter. You can barely rely on him as a backup. His utility at other positions (SS, 3B, OF) is not good. For a lite hitting 2B (career high of 6 HR last season), his 4% bb rate doesn't cut it.

I agree, but I think there is a better chance that he is the 2B than being DFA.
