Yes, we can keep going back to the WELL THEY DID GET WHITLOCK well over and over, but aside from that Bloom really hasn't received much MiLB pitching talent that wasn't drafted or IFA acquired and that takes a long time to come through the system.

And what happens if we have to remove Whitlock from the win column?

Looks more and more like he should have stayed in the bullpen.

Which means we have one less starter.

I don't need to even pull numbers to see that Whitlock was a way better RP than a SP.

I was one who's always said he should have stayed there. It could still pan out but I'm not hopefull at this point

I was hopeful, but as with so many things the last few years, my hopes are being ground into dust.

No you shouldn’t go on, you’re just making anyone reading your posts dumber.

Just don't respond to him. You're encouraging him. Ignore him like everybody else does.

What planet you on?

Other than Mayer Yorke Jordan it’s about quality not quantity

Pitching development is non existent for a Executive who came from an organization that is known for developing pitching

The recent hype surrounding Drohan and Rogers is laughable, they cannot command the zone

Quality big leaguers traded for mid 20’s prospects to old for the level there in has quickly become an Orlando prerequisite

International signings are always a risk

Last years #1 pick cannot get on the field

Should I go on?

Romero is playing this year. You're just not paying attention.

International signings are a "risk"? This makes zero sense. The only risk is the money spent which is virtually nothing.

same here. i've been a diehard fan since i was a kid in 1975 and i don't think i've ever been so down and disgusted with the organization.

One bad start and it's now "looks more and more like he should have stayed in the pen." Yeah, okay....

I'm fine with his peripherals.

No, he doesn't actually read the responses. He just comes on here to drop a troll post and leave.

Because they are a .500 team? This team looked much worse during the 90's. They were a mess.

And yet they were better in the last half of the 90's than they are in the first half of the 20's.

a last place .500 team with no hope of making the playoffs. maybe Bloom can do something to improve the team for next year but after watching him the last few years, i seriously have my doubts. i'd love to be wrong though.

It will be the late 20's soon enough.

Is the farm better?

Is the 40 man roster depth better?

Does the budget have a brighter or dimmer outlook than 3-5 years ago? (Less deadwood and sunken costs)

These are the first 3 questions that probably all need to be answered yes to think we should improve, assuming JH doesn't stay under the tax line, every year.

I'd answer:

1. It appears to be better.

2. Certainly yes.

3. A certain yes.

You are clearly repressing the Butch Hobson as Manager years. It’s understandable…

i remember those days. and i remember drinking beer with him after a game in Arlington too. barely. those three years sucked but they did finish first the year after he left.

Then, back to...

85-77 in '96

78-84 in ''97

Two good years in '98 and '99 then...

85-77 in '00

82-79 in '01

I think it comes down to 2021 getting fans' hopes up too high. We shoulda known the rebuild was going to take longer and be painful and may not be linear.

It's unfortunate and it's going to piss some people off, but you have to break a few eggs to make an omelette. 2023 is one of those eggs.

So was 2022, I guess. And for all we know, Bloom is lining up 2024 to be another egg.

I'm not sure who to blame more with this thought I'm about to share but I'm leaning John Henry's way. Sox are a big market team, and after resetting the luxury tax and sitting 100 mil below I'd fully expect them to add pieces to the team of the future with the core thats here now and guys like Mayer on the cusp. If Payroll goes up and it's jut more middle-of-the-pack guys then I blame Bloom, but if the Sox don't go big at all I blame Henry.

If not, then heads should roll. I have zero problems with them doing what they did the past few years if they go out and sign someone like Ohtani this offseason.

There's only one Ohtani.

There's always slices of blame pie to be handed out. Henry and Bloom can have their fair share this season.

Right on point.

And they are not getting him. Thats a pipe dream.

Henry could do it, but it seems a bit antithetical to the direction he's going in with Bloom.

I'm against giving Ohtani what he's going to command. He will miss 2 prime seasons because of TJS. Book it.

Early reports are saying he will get 500 million. No thanks on that. As much talent as he has, he has already one TJS so a second one isn't out of the question

It's time...Bloom fired and start anew with a different philosophy. This one is a .500 or lower nightmare

And what philosophy would that be?

We know it won’t be “spend, spend, spend”…
