I'm pretty sure it came out recently that Mookie would have accepted the Red Sox offer if they matched the Dodgers. Mookie wanted to stay with Boston, he just wanted to get paid what he was worth. It was the Red Sox and Chaim Bloom who decided to let him go.

https://www.masslive.com/redsox/2022/07/mookie-betts-says-if-boston-red-sox-offered-him-the-deal-dodgers-gave-him-he-would-have-accepted-it-report.html

He was offered the same AAV but for two fewer seasons and rejected it. I don’t know if Mookie countered and said “I want 12 years!” I would doubt that, because the Dombrowski I’ve seen meets those terms before Betts finishes the word “years.”

Betts said he would have taken that deal from Boston, but took 5 months and a pandemic to take it from LA?

I don’t believe him in this case. I don’t fault the guy for wanting to go to free agency. I don’t even blame him for letting the pandemic change his mind. But if he would have accepted that contract in Boston, Dombrowski would have drawn it up in front of him…

All GMs deal with various problems. Excuses can always be made. The fact is that this is Bloom's third year at the helm . The Sox are in the cellar , 18 games behind the Yankees . There is just no getting around that.

I'll agree to the firing of Bloom as long as Cora is also fired.

I refuse to argue with you. No satisfaction can be gained by confronting a moron.

Translation. Everyone who disagrees with me is a moron.

Translation. I'm still wearing my Chaim Bloom for President T-shirt! Chaim Simps for LIFE!!!

Sadly, not everyone is willing to EXCUSE all of Blooms mistakes. 3rd year in charge and the product on the field is PUTRID. True Red Sox FANS will call out the team's GAFFS and demand improvement. Simps just make excuses for the very people who slap them in the face and take their money for a BAD product. FACT.

The Red Sox have had great GMs in the past. And when those GMs made mistakes they were fired for it. But at least several of those GMs brought the Red Sox a championship - Epstein, Cherington. etc. Nothing about what Bloom has done suggests the Red Sox are building anywhere close to a championship team. Last I checked we're in the CELLAR of the AL East with no prospects of challenging for even the playoffs. REALITY CHECK.

What's to argue?

Are the sox not in last place?

Did they not give up 28 runs?

Do they not have one of the worst hitting OF's in baseball?

Did hang 'em chaim not put this team together?

I think Bloom had nothing to do with the decision.

If you want to fault anyone for not making a high enough offer, you have your pick between Henry and Dombrowski.

Chaim Bloom would like to thank all his loyal SIMPS for supporting him through all these difficult times over the past 3 years with the Red Sox.

"I know I've traded away our best players. I know I've traded some value into almost ZERO value. But what matters is that you BELIEVE in me. Forgive me for my mistakes, because they are not really mistakes. No they are the decisions of a god-like being descended down to walk among men. My words and my decisions are DESTINY!"

"I promise you that all will be well. Do not look at our record. Do not look at our product on the field. Just look into my eyes, my dark charming eyes and believe that this team is in the best hands possible! Also my OnlyFans will soon be open to offer exclusive content to my ardent Bloom Simps fanbase!!"

Still waiting for your dumb ass to point out what on my list was Bloom's fault.

Bravo! Someone who is willing to face facts. I don't know when this trend started - Red Sox management is suddenly immune to criticism for making mistakes?

Epstein and Cherington brought us championships. I don't remember them being IMMUNE to fan criticism. And they were even fired after making enough mistakes. What has Bloom done for us exactly? Nothing except gut the team and rid it of its best talent in his 3 years here?

I see you're a card carrying member. Rejoice in your worship of Bloom while you can!

I'm not sure that Boston ownership will be as patient if the Red Sox are still in the dumpster by the end of this season.

Your list was a list of all the sins you have absolved of the Messiah, Chaim Bloom. For he can make no mistakes. So what is the point in reading the list again since by definition of the Bloom Simp Club, Chaim Bloom is incapable of making mistakes?

PS Will you also subscribe to Blooms OnlyFans for the low, low price of just 19.99 a month? Oh you're already subscribed. I see... Well have fun with that!

A contract that large is a Henry decision, not a Bloom decision. I believe he was told the amount to negotiate then told to trade him.

Complain about the return, but it’s Henry’s plan to cut cost. If it wasn’t Bloom, it’d be some other GM.

Bloom got lulled into a false sense of security with last season’s success. 2021 team was a very poorly constructed and fundamentally weak team. It had bad defense, a pitching rotation full of holes and a bullpen lacking arms. Shockingly, they started off very hot, then they were in a tailspin but the acquisition of Schwarber and the return of Sale helped pull them out of the nosedive and then they got collectively hot. Kike was red hot and had a career month in late September and October. Those hot streaks masked the weaknesses of the team which Bloom failed to address in the offseason and the result has been disastrous. He deserves to be fired.

They were very lucky with health, especially with starting pitching.

I don’t think Sale really helped turn much at all around.

I agree that the team had some serious flaws.

OK, you're one of the subscribers to the "other irons in the fire" theory.

To me it doesn't make sense because like I said, all Henry really has to do for the team is say "here's the budget", "yes, I will sign that contract" or "no, I will not".

It shouldn't really take up much of his time.

I think you totally underestimate how much time is required to oversee a 5 billion dollar asset even for so called hands off owner. I think every organization in baseball sets a dollar amount of expenditure which require ownership approval. I think MLB rules require it.

Ultimately the owner has responsibility for everything his team does.

I think you are confusing "My opponents are stunned into silence" with "No one gives a crap what I think."

no chemistry, no motivation no desire to play, starts at the top, changes have to be made or whet ever they do will be like taking a shower and put your dirty underwear back on, manager and general manager have to go they have accomplished nothing, good players, who are a few, do not want to be laughed at when your getting crushed by 10 runs even he tv announcers could not believe it, I will never forget it, immature egomaniac, if this team is going to rebuild you have to start with a strong foundation which we don't have

If Henry dumped Bloom in the offseason, but extended Xander and Raffy nobody would complain.

Never say nobody. Too many contrarians around.

Depends on how much the extensions were for, as well.

No. We need to bring back the face, the heart and soul, the leader on a mega deal, because he’s done such a great job turning this team into what it is, today!

(Sarcasm alert)

It won't be remembered that way by anyone who understands the situation.

I think most everyone knows that JH has the checkbook, but Bloom is the one who made the actual trade. Some posters on here think Bloom is Boy Wonder from the day he arrived in Boston, but others think Bloom is Boy Blunder, and I don’t think either side is going to change their mind.

When Hang’em Chaim took over, our farm system was among the worst.

Now it is middle of the pack.

Last year we came two games away from the World Series and this year, we were decimated by injuries.

Posted (edited)

Might be hard building chemistry when you have a revolving door of about 45 players.

Not making excuses. The ball was dropped by many, including at the top.

The deflectors and distracters on this board aren't necessarily just the trolls.

Plenty of injuries there were, but this team came out of the gate lifeless, and listless.
