Some of you give up on guys too easily- after just a small sample size. Guerra is still ranked in the top 100 by one service.

Allen may or may not amount to much, but Margot is still highly ranked. My position is, we could/should have added to the packager and gotten a starter.

I suspect what we would have had to 'add to the package' was the problem.

The rumor last winter was that CLE wanted JBJ as part of any talks for one of their starters.

I remember Francona saying in an interview that they were looking to add bats, but they weren't going to sacrifice pitching to do it.

I just think that trying to coming up with trade proposals for those guys is about the equivalent of fans on a Twins message board trying to come up with trade ideas to get "Mookie Betts."

Dave Dombrowski said that this was the 1st time in his career that his "Plan A" (Price/Kimbrel/Young) completely came to fruition.

#Padres No. 2 prospect Anderson Espinoza will start the season on the DL due to forearm tightness. Was meant to start with @Storm_Baseball.

So both Pom and Espi have experienced forearm tightness?

Did they keep the receipt?

Seriously, I'm over Pomeranz. He has nothing to offer, IMO.

It's way too soon to give up on him.

He should be a very serviceable starter.

Nothing to offer except he was an allstar last year.

I have to hand it to you for your consistent optimism!!!

I think the Pom deal had an odor to it from day one. I am suspicious of a relief pitcher that has a pretty good 1/2 season as a starter. Then there is his arm/elbow soreness last year. The platelet injection. There is plenty to doubt about this guy.

He has a limited arsenal, throws too many pitches, and has no wipe-out pitch that I have seen.

He will be more frustrating than Clay but much sooner.

He has a great curveball, very similar to Rich Hill, over the last three years opponents have hit 220 on his curve and fastball. Also developed a very good cutter last year. If he stays healthy will be a very solid pitcher.

And I will gladly eat crow!

I hope you get the chance.

As long as I get to cook it or can supervise the cooking of it.

I am thinking of a nice cranberry dressing for it.

And some Merlot.

As a fellow Pomeranz critic, if he pans out, save me a drumstick. ..

this is the second time that I have read about someone offerring to eat crow if they were wrong. it is a safe bet because i am thinking that no one on this board has a clue about how difficult it would be to harvest one. I do and I am pretty sure that you can't-lol.

Heres to Pomeranz!

They don't yield much meat so I plan on cooking 5-6 of them. I won't be prepping them so big deal.

bon appetite - someone still has to shoot the little sob's. Greasy too. I'd put the odds of anyone here snagging 1 for you right up there with the likelihood of Pomeranz pitching a complete game shutout so you should be ok either way. lol

Nice job for Pomeranz tonight. He is young, he is big, he can throw. Mid 90's with a superb breaking ball. i might be the only person here who thought that this was a decent trade for the Sox. Regardless of wether the trade ultimately works out or not, this kid deserves a few positive comments.

Fine game for him tonight. Very encouraging indeed.

I was all-in as well. The talent is there.

The big question is... can he stay healthy? If so... There's a good chance to get good things from him.

I loved the trade when it happened. Although I must admit I thought it should have been voided, or at the very least a lesser prospect swapped out for Espinoza after the medical fiasco. But if he can stay healthy and pitches like he did tonight on a consistent basis, holy hell are we gonna be a nightmare rotation in a short series.

I've not been a fan of the trade at all, but that hardly means I don't want to see Drew succeed, and last night was a great start. If he can consistently be the guy we thought we were getting, then that takes our rotation to another level once we have everyone healthy.

This is pretty much how I felt exactly. Once again, he is young, left handed, and big. He seems like a hard working young man. there is absolutely nothing there that we have seen to be negative about. I have been down on some of our guys in the past for sure but normally it is because of something that relates to them doing or saying something that I just don't agree with. This kid has done nothing that I have of heard of to cause anyone to be down on him. Relax and enjoy I say. It is possible believe it or not that he has already accomplished more at the ml league level than Espinoza ever will. I hope that I am wrong but I would take a young ml proven pitcher with upside over a teenager who is years away all day every day. Oh wait - years from now if I am proven wrong, i will eat that crow as well. And for the record - allthough I am not into animal cruelty - I'll get that crow myself. Had a little experience - lol
