  1. Weather can also have a tremendous affect on a pitcher. The air in October is much colder than during the summer months. If the pitchers fingers get cold, that affects his grip quite a bit. It also can affect how "loose" his arm feels. I would like to see what the weather was like during Prices playoff starts, and see if it correlates in any way to performance. Does anyone know of a way to check or a website that shows this?
  2. Isaiah Thomas' sister killed in car accident. Only 22. Heartfelt condolences to the Thomas & Celtics families. http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/19167406/isaiah-thomas-sister-chyna-thomas-killed-one-car-accident This is brutal. WAY too young. Story says she wasn't wearing seat belt. There is simply no excuse for not wearing one. I'm in NO way in any shape or form saying she deserved this. I'm saying it might have saved her life if she was. That's all.
  3. 97 mph on the outside corner at the knees. unhittable. Downright NAS-TAY!!!
  4. Man do I love to watch the outfielders dance after a win. So funny.
  5. The baseball Gods said "let there be lights". And there were light towers, and it was good. The Gods said "let there be green" - and there was green grass, and it was good. The Gods said."No. Bigger green". - and there was the Green Monster and it was good. The Gods said "let there be a park to play in' - and there was Fenway, and it was good. But some baseball Gods were jealous. And said "We can build a stadium, not a park". We can be like the most high Gods. And the Gods cursed them for their evil. And said "You will be punished by having to live and serve in the most vile, evil place in all of baseballdom." And there was Yankee Stadium.
  6. That's the plan once my insurance will cover it. Otherwise I would have switched. I can't afford to pay for it out of pocket. Just no money. I haven't smoked since high school. But I hear it is amazing for pain relief. I hope so. I've been on the oxy for 6 years and I am SO tired of it. I don't get that wonderful numb feeling everyone says about oxycodone. Percocets do nothing for me. Nothing even touched it until oxycontin came out. It was a godsend for me. But of course idiots abuse the s*** out of it, so people like me that actually need it and get benefit from it have a hard time getting it.
  7. I did and do. Why do you think I quit drinking? I take 120 mg of oxycontin daily. I used to take 180 mg per dose. Doctors actually wanted to take me off them altogether. But they didn' have any answer to "What are you going to replace it with that works for me?"
  8. 6-0 already. Looks like i picked the wrong week to quit drinking.
  9. Why the f*** do teams like the Rays and the O's just f***ing lay down and rollover on their backs for the Yankees, but play us every f***ing game like it's a one game playoff to win it all?? I mean what the f***?
  10. Moreland so far has been a very pleasant surprise. Especially with the shoes that he has been asked to fill. An impossible task. But so far he has responded better than anyone could have possibly hoped for.
  11. Thanks. It's an amazing, brilliant song. Great writing.
  12. Taylor goes to Pawsox. Our bullpen goes from Abad to Aworse.
  13. Did we "need" him, no. But any time you have the ability to grab a top-notch starting pitcher, you do it. Especially since it also keeps him away from your compettitors in the division. We won't be able to fully judge this trade for several years, at the earliest. We have to see: A: What Sale does for us. Wins, WS appearances, etc. And of course, health. If he stays healthy and dominates and we win at least 1 WS. it's worth it. B: What the prospects end up doing for Chicago. If Sale does nothing and the four end up being HOF performers, that would suck. but I seriously doubt that happens. We simply have to wait and see. I personally think it ends up being a win for both organizations. We shall see.
  14. Provided they are good enough to replace them with. The track record for signing FA relievers is not good. And hope our pitchers step up? Words like hope & maybe give me heartburn. Theres that word yet again. Maybe, and now a new one. Might. I fully realize neither you nor I know what is in the Red Sox future, but there has to be several plans. In case the scenario you presented doesn't or can't be worked out, what then? Again, provided that there is a Betts to get in year 4 or 5. I realize you can't read minds or tell the future. And I know what you're saying here, I'm not just trying to be confrontational. ( Sister Jean Marie would be so proud of me using that word in a sentence) All I'm saying is that "stuff happens". And nobody, including DD, has any clue what the future brings. And I know there were no guarantees that all the pieces we traded ever amount to anything. But we had options & we have very few now. DD has put all our eggs in the "now" basket. Leaving very little or nothing in the "then" basket. That's the only point I'm trying to make.
  15. Panda!! I am rooting SO hard for him to have a good year. I really am.
