The other thing worth noting is Red Sox MLB pitching rotation for 26 and 27….. I honestly don’t think either Eyanson or Witherspoon would have broken in to the Red Sox rotation.
1. Crochet

2. Suarez

3. Tolle

4. Bennett

5. Houck/ Crawford/ Oviedo/ Bello

plus you can go out and add a Gray/Bieber type on a 1 year as well.

it makes a lot of sense to me.

As always time will tell. Rut Man has been on the IL three times this year, and only played 90 games last, which is a concern now, and going forward with any kind of extension.

Yes, 90 out of 162 last year and I see 67 games played in 2026. The O's have played 111 games.

157/273 is 58%.

If he keeps up that rate, this trade will suck. Only a ring with his help would change that, for me.

Having done some reading about Rutschman I think he will work out well. He’s a switch hitter with a low K rate and is regarded as an elite defensive catcher. If he can stay healthy he’ll be a major upgrade over Narvaez.
Still, giving up Eyanson is tough to swallow

"If he can stay healthy" should not be the first thing you say after trading 3 of your best prospects.

When I read your post, it dawned on me.  We only have one catcher now!  That’s insane.

The Sox have Mickey G holding an Uber coupon good for a multi-stop ride from Worcester to Landsdowne St

Holy sh** bro….. You guys would have whined about trading Mayer and Campbell 12 months ago. Now they are both throw ins with very little value…. An All star catcher, switch hitter, good defense not just for this year but next year as well.

go touch grass or go for a walk or something this deal makes a ton of sense. Prospects haven’t done sh** yet.

Agree, and now he’s got to get back on the field to be any help now.

If Adley wasn't 28yo and injured I might agree. 28 is like 35 in catcher years. Back to back seasons of him missing time is huge red flag. I don't dislike Adley, but that is just too much at this point in his career. Literally every analyst I've heard say it's a massive overpay. You and Bres are on an island on this. Let's hope it's works out.

Wow, talk about depth?  NOT!

For this year, not much.  Unless Crochet comes back.

But next year Houck, Crawford and Oviedo might all return and Crochet should if he doesn’t this year…

I was talking about catching depth.  As the roster is right now, Connor Wong is all we have.

Gasper can back up one game…

One game is fine. Not sure when AR is expected back. Siegler has caught before as well.

Jake Rogers is a catcher. He completely sucks. But he catches, allegedly. To his credit, he can grow a solid 'stache. so I guess there's that, too.

Anyone know where Mike Greenwell is?  I  remember in ‘87 he came in to catch in one game, it was about as bad as it gets?  I’m sorry, I apologize, I think Mike passed away.  I’m just pissed about this trade.

DFA Gasper and add Knizner to the 40 and 26.

If Rutschman is injury prone, which it appears like he is, the Sox medical staff will have someone else to practice on.

Based on this trade and the Sox history, are we positive Rutschman isn't a pitcher?
