  1. If making the play at home plate is right, than I don't want to be Wong.... I'll let myself out.
  2. I had that concern. Tolle tossing his best career game in Rogers' first start has temporarily alleviated some of those concerns. lol. Maybe it's an overblown issue. Here's hoping the whole staff never misses a beat.
  3. What a team. When we need to come back like 7 times in a game, we do it. When we need a dominant start, and/or a nice early lead, and we get both.
  4. A's back-up RF in for his 8th relief-pîtching appearance of the season. Ooof.
  5. He's a starter. That shouldn't be a problem as long as he doesn't completely melt down.
  6. You're an inning late. 🤣 But yeah, I think erring on the side of caution was the move there. 20 K hunt woulda been fun tho.
  7. So, we all wanted Tolle to go deep, but now with a big lead, at what point are we comfortable handing it over to Burgos to take it home, and not add innings on Tolle unnecessarily? Genuinely curious. Only 65 pitches, but Burgos is a starter so he can go 3 or 4 if we trust him to not get smoked.
  8. Rogers, a career .569 OPS hitter coming in knocking 2 dubs in the first 2 AB's of his first start, is this run in a nutshell.
  9. Holy s***. I went to bed after the Meidroth Homer. lol. Just realizing now what happened. Unreal. This team is a movie.
  10. I find "immature assets'" to be a weird term, When it comes to this trade, those assets are worth what they are worth today. It doesn't matter if they all completely bust, we still traded a #2, #4 and #5 prospect in a pretty decent system. That's what we gave up, and those chips could have been used for other impact players instead. Which means Rut needs to play at an all-star level, help us win something meaningful(at least 1 pennant, bare minimum), and/or sign an extension that doesn't cripple us in a few years, or this trade will be a fat L.
  11. Yeah, that crossed my mind. Story coming back does have the biggest chance of ruining our mojo of any IL guy. I was hoping he'd feel like he needed to prove something and be willing to help however he could, since he was trash before the injury and a big part of why we sucked. But he could be a bitch about it, too. Good point. Maybe he needs another appt with the Sox med staff for re-evaluation, if you know what I'm saying.
  12. Oh, haha. Didn't notice. Thought maybe we rostered Sogard due to the Mead acquisition and subsequent IL'ing or something.
  13. If Story looks healthy and can have a good rehab stint, I think he deserves a shot to replace Romy. And then see if he can earn back a bigger role. But he should not have anything handed to him or have a long leash. Story's ceiling is just so much higher if he could prove to be in form, that I think you gotta give him a look. If Romy was hitting lefties this year like he did last year, I might feel different, but he hasn't really earned much this year either.
  14. Figure of speech. I realize no one catches everyday. lol And let me rephrase... teams with playoff hopes generally don't switch up their catching at the deadline. We were last in the division the year we replaced Vaz with Reese. We could have replaced him with a mop bucket and it wouldn't have made any difference to us. It did work for Houston this time though. See, that's what I'm saying. And there is a reason for that. It's riskier that upgrading other positions. Especially when you have a very well-oiled pitching staff.
  15. Yeah, but those guys didn't come in to be everyday guys for us. Vaz is one good example, but I believe that is rare.
  16. Duran is a beast. Can't believe you guys all wanted to dump him. 😅
  17. Still has to learn the staff. There is a reason teams don't usually mess with their catching at the deadline unless they absolutely have to. And catchers with an injury concern? Even less, if ever. It's a bold move cotton, let's see if it pays off.
  18. Narvaez was in that group of guys. Has was the one that has to know every pitcher on the staff like the back of his hand and know how to get the best out of them. Rutschman is a great catcher with a great baseball IQ, so if anyone can learn quick it's him. He'll also have 2 or 3 weeks left on the IL to do his homework. But to just say that removing our #1 catcher in the hottest streak in franchise history will affect chemistry less than a fielder or even two, is a leap of faith. Here's hoping.
  19. Like this trade, or not, but you can’t really say the chemistry has not been changed. We replaced a catcher who knows the staff very well and has been excellent on defence and calling games., with someone who has to come in and learn the entire staff. Not saying it won’t work, but there are few things a team can do that has the potential to disrupt chemistry more than switching up your catching 2/3rd’s through the season when the team is on fire.
  20. Ooh, I didn't know this tea.
  21. Is Eaton really that fast? I didn't realize. If we had this in-house already, than I'm not seeing the point of this at all.
